Awakened again by severe leg cramps, I rode in just spinning easy trying to un-clench the muscles. That seemed to work although there is still some residual tightness. Probably an electrolyte deficiency, time for a bacon burger and fries!

Cool commute last night ... the Tour of America's Dairyland started last night with a criterium not far off the MUP I commute on. So I decided to make the detour and check it out for a little bit.



There's races all through next week too scattered throughout Wisc. Two here in MKE and a road race at Road America Race Track. Hoping to catch at least one more.

Due to work schedule, today was only my second commute this week. Bit of a headwind, added 5-10 minutes to the commute, but a beautiful morning just the same.

My ride in today was really nice; I've given myself a few days off the bike this week, and I figured that I'd either feel amazing today, or like crap. Thankfully my legs felt great, and not like they were full of lead. I look forward to the ride home, and then taking the long way in tomorrow around Newport Bay.

Been awhile since I've posted my commute. 3 months into new commute which is 32 miles round trip now, bringing me
2 miles further into queens. Heat and humidity of the week was gone, a pleasant 60 degrees on the ride in and 76 on the
way home. And on top of it all it was a classroom training day which started an hour later and ended an hour earlier so I
slept in and got home an hour earlier. What a way to start the weekend

Ugh, summer is here and school is out. I almost got hit this evening by three boys who were about eight or ten who decided to throw a baseball or a large white ball of some kind at me. They planned this out pretty carefully. One boy walked into the street and stopped I rolled by thinking he was jaywalking and waiting When I was about a foot from he threw the projectile at me. It missed my head by mere inches. I went on my way but heard them laughing their asses off. So I looked back and yelled "You could have hit me ***hole!" This was stupid for two reasons. One: hitting me was probably their objective. Two: I shouldn't curse at kids no matter what they do.

I played hooky today, albeit an excused absence. After the audit was complete the boss owed me missing a week camping.

Anywho it meant a nice ride with my wife and son in tow to the aquarium. A little overcast and cool on the way in but absolutely perfect on the way home. Of course the boy napped for only the ride and not a minute longer. So we got off to errands and got new cell phones, welcome to modern age my first phone that can take photos.

Had a really close pass today but fortunately my helmet camera was on and able to record it. I believe it was an elderly driver yet that doesn't excuse him for not merging into the left lane to get around me.

Back at work after a week of vacation but the weather was beautiful for bike commuting. Spent the week off cycling the GAP-C&O Canal trails from Pittsburgh to DC, which was quite an adventure and about double my normal weekly mileage. It was a great way to clear my head and I didn't think about work all week.

Unless they hit you, you don't realize how close a pass has actually gotten until they get past you and then you realize, wow, that was close. I've been able to calm myself down after one of these knowing that the pass occurred with no incident but it unnerves me for a bit afterwards.

Nice to be back on the commuter after a week's vacation. It's funny that I really look forward to and miss riding each day... not feeling the same about being back to work

I spent the week end on my knees, working in my garden, it was nice but this morning I'm all cramped up. Fortunately I had a nice tailwind to help me this morning.

Another bird attack this morning. I'll try to post it tonight. Last thursday I caught it nicely on my camera but I had a 4 minutes video for a total of 3 seconds of action. As I know nothing about computer I wasn't able to edit the video to shorten it. This morning I caught it again but as I now know exactly where the bird is (within a 100 ft range) I managed to get a 20 seconds video.

I had a nice ride this morning. It was perfect weather, about 15°C (60°F), no wind, no humidity and peaceful.

My son used his map to direct me, his map was a piece of nylon cord he strung between the handles of his seat. I love the imagination.

We watched a crow swoop and peck at a fellow out for his morning walk.

We had a nice ride on Sunday, about 40 km out along the levy and back. My wife was wrecked and could not believe I was going to ride today. She made us take transit back up the hill home, okay with that. Then she bonked hard and we had a nice rest in someones side yard. I made her feel better with my bonk stories. She sighed and said she thought I was not susceptible to such things. "You do not get tired, eat much, get sick or sleep. You just keep going," she says. It is nice that after ten years she still thinks of me like that.

The ride was nice and we had some great crispy and greasy (just right) fish and chips. Then a nice relaxing evening. But i forgot sunscreen on my arms and my sons feet. Little lobster looking for a family of gingers.

I was sluggish legs of lead this morning, aftermath of my 58 mile "birthday ride" yesterday. (55 plus a few for good measure) My plan was to burn through the glycogen stores in some hills at the start, then ride easy in fat-burning mode, but I think I achieved fatigue more than anything else. I haven't had many longish rides this year ... meaning "one" ... so that was maybe too ambitious. So recovery mode today.

Thunderstorms are rolling through, and gathering as the day progresses. I'll either have a fast ride home if I try to shoot a gap between them, or easy pace rain ride if there are no gaps.

The humidity was through the roof, but it did not rain on me. WHen i first looked outside this morning, it looked like it had rained recently but when I looked at the road it was dry. Hoping to dodge the scattered showers that could be around this weekend.
