Pretty normal rides for me both last night and this morning. Overcast today with the high not breaking 50F and chances of afternoon showers.

Big headwind riding home yesterday, although not as strong as Tuesday. Light wind today, but colder than it has been in a while. Upper 20s. We're supposed to get 5-8" of snow tomorrow, so this may be my last day of riding this week.

Super nice ride this morning. After bailing out of riding Tuesday and Wednesday (I could have ridden either or both days) I decided to ride today. Got some rain last night but it moved out before I left this morning. 46 degrees, and only a 6 MPH tail wind but that made all the difference I guess. I was 8.5 minutes faster (moving time) than on Monday morning.

I washed the bike last weekend, and then last night I finally washed my nasty clip-on Raceblade fenders for the first time. Those things were downright gross. Well, now they're dirty again, and the bike is dirty again. *sigh* I need a rain/wet bike...

38F this morning - with the nicer weather I feel I can ride alternative routes. Yesterday's ride home was the first and was like rediscovering a brand new route. I took a slight detour this morning that takes me into downtown traffic and feeling bold I did a little lane splitting with cars stopped at a light. I guess my spacial judgment needs some exercise because I slammed my left shoulder on a van's right side mirror. Most importantly I didn't go down but sure the line of cars behind him saw my bonehead move. Guess I needed a little dose of humility

36F and rainy for the commute to work. Should be 46F and rainy for the commute home from work. Still, I prefer riding in the rain versus a strong headwind. This was the first ride in the rain for the new Crossrip. The verdict... I still got wet. :lol:

The ride itself was great but my legs were hurting this morning and thus a two minute longer commute. Looks like I'm going to get wet this afternoon but I kind of look forward to it

I actually could write a couple of interesting stories from the subway every day! Not that amazing, but yesterday on the way home, a woman gets on the train while it is above ground (in the Bronx). She's talking on the phone. Somehow she keeps her voice low, so it's not at all annoying. Eventually, the train goes in the tunnel, and she keeps talking, oblivious to what, to me, is obvious, that the signal has to die. Then she looks at her phone all perplexed for a while before putting it away. Eventually, there will be cell service in the underground portions, but it will take years. Other cities have it already, but no other subway system is nearly as large as ours, and some things take exponentially longer as a result. I'm not even convinced I want cell service in the tunnels. Why can't I be disconnected for part of my life?

Today is the second day I rode in this week. This is the second week since I started this job in December when I rode more than once. I really didn't feel like riding, because it's such a long ride, about 13 miles each way. But I put on the biggest "do it anyway" attitude I could muster, and I'm glad I did it. Headwinds were strong! I'm glad I didn't ride yesterday, when the winds were much stronger.

Another nice day, though 39 degrees this morning felt colder than usual. I'm glad I chose to wear my pants and not shorts. Still dark. I had 5 cars pass me in 9 miles, more than usual. I'm probably going to take a longer way home after work and get 31 miles total for the day. But the longer way home doesn't have the hills I usually ride. I get to go by a dairy and say "Hi!" to the pretty cows as they march out to graze.

40F / 4C persistent rain...first day of Spring? Yep.

Nice, cool spring morning. Rains last night and the cold front dropped us back to 40F. I went back to the tights and jacket. But we will warm up to 68 today, so the warm stuff will get packed for the ride home. I had one of my slower rides in this morning, partially because I had extra time and partially because I stayed up too late watching NCAA games.

I think a lot of us could relate to this, there are many days I feel like this when I get up in the morning. About 95% of the time I'm glad I did it. The key is to not think about it to much. The hardest part of bike commuting is getting out the door. :)

commuting home yesterday was great. gorgeous day. sunny. yes a bit windy. but so worth it.

took a new route (manhattan bridge) and found out some fun things along the way to make things go quicker. was quick here. then got lost/detoured a bit (coming off the bridge always confuses me). i cycled then at a slower but still decent pace, and let many others pass me as they were gunning it. :) i just wanted to enjoy.

Wet, cold and messy commute but I was thrilled to be riding because I had thought today would be a washout. The forecast all week was calling for a rainy day on Friday, so I figured that I would drive. I was hoping to ride yesterday but my legs were fried from lots of miles lately, so I took a rest day. The front that was supposed to arrive got here much earlier on Thursday, and it started raining midday, so I was glad that I drove. Woke up this morning and checked to radar to find that the front had nearly passed, and the rain was just sprinkling. My legs felt great after the rest day, so I went for it. The roads were very wet with temperatures in the 30s, and it was still misting fairly heavy, but it's supposed to be sunny and warm by this afternoon. Spring weather is crazy!

Nice cool commute this morning. I did have a dove fly up about two feet from me and I about pooped my draws. Be safe out there.

Amen! I take the position that unless work requires (and it rarely does) I'm riding. On this first day of Spring, 38F and misty rain. It always snows here during the final four so we'll have at least one more round of yuck - but I have hope!

I had my 5th commute this morning. People keep asking me if I'm cold after I get to work, but the truth is, I'm not! I think 38-45 degrees is PERFECT for a bike ride! I'm having enough of a workout that I don't get cold, but it's cool enough that I don't get hot. I love it! I'm going to try to get as many rides in at this time of year as I can.

I broke a spoke yesterday morning. Not the first on this wheel, and on the NDS. I think it's time to rebuild these old things, and with a modern rim for more tire selection. It was a nice ride, regardless. The weather is beautiful here.

It certainly is. This morning I left the house wearing bibs, jersey, arm warmers, knee warmers, and wind vest. Halfway here I had to take off the vest. It's just about ideal.

Happy Spring everyone! I decided to ride something more colorful than my LHT today, so I pulled down the old Colnago, and off I went. Like my ride to work a couple days ago, I just couldn't seem to get my groove. First I had to stop to ditch my glasses due to fog condensation, then it was to re-attach my tail light, then the zipper on my vest got all jacked up....lol. I thought for sure that I'd arrive at work much later than usual, however, to my surprise, I actually made it pretty quick as a result of riding a much lighter bike. It was a bit of an annoying ride, so I'm counting on the ride home to be spectactular. :)

Nice is the way I'd describe today's trip. Not too hot/cold/windy and I've regained some of the strength I lost over the winter.

They predicted snow, so I took bike share this morning. Sure enough it's snowing. It's not sticking yet though, so I might just be pigheaded enough to grab a bike for the ride home. But that's probably foolish. Winter is toying with us. I'm so over it.

No ride today due to snow. I'll more than make up for it tomorrow by riding into the city for my Traffic Skills 101 road test.

The ride home last night was really great; it was nice riding my road bike for a change as apposed to my commuter because it's so much quicker. That said, as much as it's fun to go quick, I really do prefer my LHT. I stopped by my LBS on my way home, and picked up a new chain for my LHT- I put it on last night, and my bike was buttery smooth this morning in the large chainring, and the granny, but I still got that dreaded grind on the middle chainring. My cranks have seen years of great service;(90's M952 XTR) to try and replace the chainrings would be nuts- they're hard to find new, and can cost a small fortune. Looks like I'll be scouring the interwebs today. I'm thinking about going with a compact double. Back to todays ride- foggy again this morning, but mild. I wasn't really feeling the love again today, so I took a little different route to mix things up. I wondered for a few moments if I was getting burned out; seems like my last few rides have all started out "not feeling the love." If the feeling persists, all it'll take is a couple days sitting on the 405 to make me realize that I belong on a bike, not in a car. I'm looking forward to the ride home- today I plan on doing my mixed surface commute home, where I jump off the road, and ride fire roads and single track for the last 4 or so miles.

Interesting weather Boston has been having so far in "Spring", starting cold and windy for my friday commute/beer delivery in the morning, and turning to something moist. Glad I still have the studs on the front wheel.

I'm a little late posting this, but Thursday was interesting... My morning commute was pleasant. For lunch i rode over to subway to grab a sandwich. When I was almost there I heard a thumping rubbing sound. I slowed down and coasted into the parking lot. Low and behold, I had a big bubble out the side of my rear tire. I locked it up to grab food and come back and investigate. My first thought was that somehow the bead had come unseated and the tube was coming out. Upon closer examination, the bead was still in place, but the sidewall had torn off from the bead.

I was about 2 miles from my office and now late for a telecon. I deflated it enough that it wouldn't rub and slowly and carefully made my way back. My wife was going to be in the area at the end of the day, so I called and asked her to bring the car rack.

After work, the wife took me to REI and they agreed it must be a defective tire. I bout it in October and had at most 1000 miles on it. They switched it for free (thanks REI, you rock!). While waiting, I found a Novara Verita for nearly half off. It looked pretty sharp and I had been eyeing them as a N+1. At half off how could I resist? The wife had no issue, so now N=2!

New(free) tire and new bike! Woohoo!

Tomorrow is my first commute on the Verita. It should be a little sportier than my current ride, a Novara Buzz (aka The Beast).
