This upcoming weekend is the HotterNHell weekend. Some people pay money to ride in that kind of weather.

That's actually my hometown. I moved to another state 3 days after my last college class in 1989. It would have been 1 day, but a tornado hit my house. I had to stay a few extra days to get the insurance worked out. It was the 3rd one I had experienced up close. Now I only go back for weddings, funerals or family emegencies.

temps in upper 60’s …
two layers - and that was barely enough … cold almost the entire return trip
last year at this time mid to upper 80’s

I feel everyone's Heat Index pain. We had 4 days in the low 90s, and waaay more 80s than in a usual Summer.
No rain in July and most of Aug. High temps in 70s last week this month (next week).

Today is supposed to be the worst so far.
102° and a dew point over 72 means we have a heat index of about 115°.
We are under an excessive heat warning.

Being in Tucson, outdoor activities in the summer happen as the sun rises. If I wake up and it’s already getting light, it becomes a gym day, or a couch day.

It has been about 80° for the low, which is normal. But we have a lot of humidity so early morning is like a sauna.

last few days our lows have been in upper 40’s … close to a record for this time of year
today’s high 80 - first day into the 80’s for a little while … higher temps are forecast for the next 10 days though

66 and light rain in Portland. That's my happy place. I'd be happier with 66 and no rain, but rain means no wildfires. Wildfires do melt tires.
Week after next I'll be riding New York/Montreal/New York (actually starts/ends in New Jersey these days, and turns around at the border, but the name has stuck). I'll be bringing fenders, rain gear, leg warmers, and sunscreen. Likely need all of that stuff.

Since it's too hot to ride there, you could do what some other Fort Worth residents did back in the 90s. The Toadies went to Possum Kingdom lake and spent some time there. I spent a lot of time there in my youth. Hit some killer parties at Bug and Sandy beaches!

It’s always funny to me that whoever is telling the story didn’t see one. He heard it from somebody else.
If you want to catch catfish when you are heading toward the dam look for a canyon on your left. We called it the icebox because it seemed to be stocked with catfish.

If we are updating this.
Puget Sound, Central Eastside, Cascade foothills, Issaquah Alps
Temps low 70s, not consistent rain - mizzle - mist and light drizzle, but no puddles or rooster tails.
Drier thru lunch stop and last 12mi.
50 flat, except the 2 bigger climbs late. Persistence.

great ride this past weekend
high temps at our house were 88 - 90 (?) - but headed to the Laurel Mountains to ride section of the GAP where temps were much lower … the temps there might have been below 80 - definitely below 80 in the shade (and even less near the ravines)
