I was going to take the day off but the wife wanted to ride so I did a 27 mile ride with her at the park. It was a nice change of pace from riding with my buddies or solo.

Small 25 mile ride just to get out and move the biking muscles after a long weekend in NJ. Wonderful weather, lots of bikers waving and smiling. Good to see. Now that darkness is coming earlier, the after-work rides will become less frequent.......

Solo ride. Today was my 5th day in a row of riding, so I promised myself I would go easy and not too far, maybe only 10 or 15 miles of easy spinning (especially because the forecast threatened precipitation). Unfortunately I was having so much fun that I got 16 miles out before I realized A) it was indeed raining, and B) there were no short cuts, I still had another 16 miles to get home.

So I figured as long as I'd already broken my promise to go short, I would also break my promise to go easy. Hammer time! (cue "You Can't Touch This")

And now I'm soaking wet, and I can't feel my legs!

Needed to do some grocery shopping so I took the beater bike and had the Garmin with me. Seems I needed a few additional miles to break 500 for the week. 8.7 miles gave me 506.6 miles for 4 rides this week

Two days off and a time change meant I did not want to go riding at all today. I thought back on how the time change has ended my riding for the season in the past, and I suited up to go out for a ride. Wind chill was in the upper 30's, but other than the first two warm up miles I was just fine. I am getting very close to having to do my official 57 mile birthday ride. Might be quite cold for it, but it is crunch time.

I took a break at my quiet spot and ate a Cliff bar. Here is a pic of the bike in situ. I carry it out here though, too many briars for these tires. That seat has got to go.

20.0 miles (32.2k) Saturday, windy, overcast - 20.2 miles (32.5k) today. It was really cold for the first ½ hour, then warmed up (in the sun) to just cold. As long as the sun is out it makes for a nice ride. I'll get pretty close to the 6,000 mile mark by the 19th.

11 miles this afternoon including one modest hill. The downhill stretch leading away from that hill was nicely paved a few months ago and is now good for a 30+mph burst most days.
A bit cool - 50F - but dry. No complaints.

Commuted to work.

Edit: But did not commute home. The rain which was forecast to arrive at 8:00PM showed up early, and after slogging through traffic for a mile-and-a-half in a freezing downpour, I threw in the towel and hopped on the nearest subway.

Weather Channel app showing light winds for this morning's ride. THEY LIED!!!!

None of my riding buddies were riding this morning so I did a fairly nice paced, 40 mile solo ride. Weather here is still awesome (except for the wind). We have runners still running around in shorts and no shirts on and women in halter tops.

22 miles Tuesday morning on the road bike, after raising the stem a bit to compensate for aching neck and shoulders. Felt better. Chilly and stiff north wind, but good for new personal best on a tough southbound hill climb.

Cold day but sunshine. Set out and was riding along the Little Calumet River trail, enjoying the sunshine on my back when I noticed my ELEMNT screen looked odd. "Start Ride?" duh.. "YES". I was probably 4+ miles in, so I ended up with 28.5 miles. The rubber seat on the Wheelhouse is just terrible and there is no way I could sit on it for 57 miles. The weather is supposed to get colder starting that day, so I may ride the Sutra with an extra layer strapped to the rack, just in case. The B-17 is just so much better and it may be a while before I can buy the Cambium 17. Ordered the KickR and waiting it's arrival.

17.3 miles (27.8k). Weather Underground forecast said "same as yesterday", uh, fellahs, WRONG! I'll bet there were parts of Alaska warmer than here. Lotza sunshine tho, frozen fingers, shortened ride due to VA pre-admission appt. (took 4 hours).

51 Miles. Weather Underground said it would be 49° today, it never got over 35°, thats 1°C. I knew I was in trouble when my hands started getting very cold right away. I found I was able to fit my light weight gloves I brought in case it got too warm, inside the medium weight gloves I started out with, but I was still cold. Got home 45 minutes after dark, I'm glad I charges my headlight Sunday for daylight savings time ending. First time I've gotten home after dark in a while.

Not been out for a week now, hands giving me grief when I do go out, due to terrible circulation. Hopefully next week I'll be given a date to fix my wrist and the veins/arteries put back where they belong. Its been very windy and cold as well where we are.

A leisurely 25 mile solo jaunt through rolling hills swathed in peak foliage, all vivid yellows and oranges and reds. First sub-40°F ride of the season :::sadface:::

Not a cloud in the sky, mid 40's and a beautiful ride on the Sutra. Body is voting 'No' for the big ride tomorrow, but I felt very good towards the end of todays ride. It is supposed to get very windy and cold tomorrow and I'd hate to get caught far away in that. Will see. KickR is supposed to be delivered tomorrow also. They wanted extra money for delivery by tomorrow, but I called their bluff and figured it would get here anyway by then.

22.1 miles today.

My buddy. Frankie, said he wasn't riding our scheduled 60 mile ride today because his wife is having cataract surgery. So I took of for a nice 40 mile solo ride. Got to the west parking lot and who do I run into? Frankie! Looks like his wife's cataract surgery is tomorrow so I ended up with a nice 60 mile ride with Frankie. It all worked out in the wash.

22.7 miles (36.5k). Pretty much cold until the sun came out near the end of the ride. Wore the hunting mittens today so my hands stayed warm. Rode the Roubaix Expert today, solid riding bike.
Spent 4 hours in pre-admission at the VA. The good news is the rotator cuff might be okay, which means just replacing/fitting the ball end of the arm rather than a total reversal (more extensive surgery). That'll mean a quicker healing time.

A few degrees above freezing this morning so a ride to work was in order. Sunny and about 50 on the way home. Supposed to have a tailwind on the way home but I couldn't feel it. Faster than average speed because I was feeling strong! (19 mi.)

2.3 miles (3.7k). Well, I tried. Considerably warmer today, really short ride, really BIG wind, blew me out into the traffic lane.

Had a nice 40 mile ride this morning. My buddy Steve got back from vacation so I ended up doing 25 miles with him and then did the last 15 miles with the wife. She happen to be at the van for her rest stop when I pulled in for mine so I opted to end the ride with her.

Commuted again. Had a tailwind on the way to work and, if the weather forecast is to be believed, I will have a tailwind on the way home too. WINNING!

Rained last night, making for a filthy ride. Got a flat from a tiny piece of wire, I assume from a radial car tire. And I overdressed. But hey, it was a good day to ride otherwise.
