I don't rember taking one in school. I did make up my own on which I failed miserably. It had two questions-should I stay in school? Should I join the army? (Keep in mind that this was 1969.) On the other hand I often tell people that joining the army was not only the dumbest thing I've ever done, it was also the smartest. It's all so confusing.

P.S. In time I wlso will have a great set of legs.

Joining the army is not a dumb thing to do -- unless the year is 1969....

Not to flog a dead post, but I think I found my answers in book written by Brian Christian, "The Most Human Human:"; as well as gaining a incidental insight into the "death of chess". Great read, or listen on Audible...while bike riding.

I believe you are a Brit. We Yanks would call that a "slow hanging curve".......

I guess that all depends on how comfortable you are with being sent to risk life and limb for a reason you may or may not endorse by people who have no skin in the game.

This is how I see it. When I was in my late 20's, working my way through college, there was a short I.Q. test in Reader's Digest. I took it, did okay, and the analysis at the end of the article said you might want to go and take the Mensa test. So, I did. Scored well enough to become a member of Mensa, but dropped my membership after only one year. The most boring people I ever met. Talk about 'nerds'. I agree with DougG. Scoring well just means that I know how to take a particular type of test very well...nothing more.

I did really love those pattern questions. The ones where they give you a series of pictures and you had to choose the correct answer to continue the sequence. Those geometric puzzles were fun, but I hated the verbal/word problems.

I don't want to know because I don't want to have another reason to be depressed

At my (our) age is a little late since we must have gone through the majority of our lives hopefully with our chin up.

As we all know for most of us life is an obstacle course that requires a fair amount of intelligence!

I think I was tested in 6th grade, I'm now 60. I actually watched Fischer and Spassky on TV play that series, it was boring as hell. But Fischer was a master at playing poker, he had Spassky psychologically beat, and Spassky couldn't get past Fischer's antics and lost due to mental frustration.

I don't however recall the cattle exams. But I do recall how junky the Schwinn line of Varsity's, Continental's, Suburban, Collegiate's, World, World Sport, Sprint, and Travelers all were, and to see any of those bikes go for more then recycle value just makes me scratch my head. I guess my IQ is too low to figure out those nonsense prices those bikes get in areas like Chicago.

Here's an example: https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/3678972538.html

Well, to be honest I can't believe this thread still has "legs"

All I'll admit to is this: My IQ is high enough to ride a bike and enjoy it.

I don't know my IQ score. Practically speaking, I was smart enough to go to medical school, but not smart enough not to.

The only time I ever did an IQ test, I scored 100%.
