The picture was taken at Castitas taco stand, it’s a few blocks off the Pinellas Trail. Not sure what area you’re at, but if you can pick up the Pinellas Trail, then yes, your hybrid will be a good bike for it. If you want just PM if you have any questions about the area and trail, Im on the trail most days, be glad to help.

It was such a beautiful day, I rode by the sand art contest but I didn’t stop, the wind and temperatures today just made for such a great ride. Here’s a pic down on Passe a Grille by the old Mary Pier.

30km ride today (mostly dirt roads) down to a river bend. It had rained at night so it was a bit wet and muddy in some places but the bike handled it all very well. This morning being cloudy helped a lot. Came back home with one full water bottle. It's funny how much more water we need when it's hot and sunny.

Here's the album

Surly Ogre running Shawalbe Big Apple tires, 45psi rear, around 42psi front. The picture was taken in Passe-a-Grille beach, it’s basically south St. Petersburg Beach.

Wow ! That’s where you rode ? Those are great photos. That’s just beautiful !

I’m in Florida and will normally go through 2 bottles of water on a 25 mile ride on smooth paved trails. I’m surprised you didn’t need more, though lower temps do help a lot !

Howdy, haven't posted here for a while. Have been riding but not carrying a proper camera only my newish Google Pixel and posting to facebook. I saved these images from FB and not my phone so think the quality's lost a bit.
Yesterday I climbed to Mount Lofty here in Adelaide.

James E Grey Preserve

A gem of a little park in New Port Richey Florida. It has a very "old Florida" nature path and boardwalk along the upper Pithlachascotee River. It's only a few miles ride from my house and was good to get out after the rain from yesterday and this morning.

Nice pics there, and the quality loss wasn't noticed... viewing them on my phone. 😉

Thanks for the positive comments everyone. I love this thread and enjoy contributing to it. Gotta love the hills!

Scooty, on a hot sunny day I'd easily go through 2 750ml bottles on that same ride. Riding smooth pavement without too much climbing, I need about 2.5 -3 liters for 100km, but the consumption rate is probably exponential. The temperatures also tend to go up in the second half of the ride.

Kicked ass with the FXS6 today at the Ride and Run charity event. 23 miles with a smidge under 18mph average. It’s fun to ride a course with zero stops.

this was actually a week or so ago, just getting around to posting the photo.
Location Florida, Citrus County Near Ocala

This is the new paved trail that runs along the florida greenway starting at the Santos Trailhead. It can be a bit difficult to find on the end that stops at rt 200, here is a video of how to find that end

I rode from the 200 side to the bridge over I75 and back, it was getting dark and there are bears in the woods.

Nice info, thanks ! Im suppose to be in the Ocala area sometime this month for work, (but they’re having scheduling issues), I was planning on bringing a bike with me, if I have time I will check it out. I normally stay at the Courtyard right there off I-75 and 200 so I will be close.

no problem, I think I will try to do a street view go google earth to pinpoint it. of course from that courtyard you could go down 301 I think and start at the Santos trailhead which would be much easier. don't expect flat Florida, it is rolling hills, I will be back down on dec 29th for a few days, I did not make it to that taco stand over thanksgiving so I may try the pinellas trail then. cheers.

Strange weather up here in Alberta. The snow subsided, it warmed up and I had a day off. I took the bike for a local spin after having it tucked away for the winter. Hopefully it stays like this for a while so I can put a few more miles on it.

Great day in Florida, went for a “Beer & Taco” ride on the Ogre, I stopped at Taco Bus at Sunset Beach for some great pork tacos and a beer. Put a touch under 60 miles on the old/new girl today.

Strange that our paths crossed yesterday from looking at the cyclemeter map - unfortunately I was at a funeral at 49th St. and 38th Ave and then to the after service gathering back behind Biff Burger in the neighborhood you rode through. I lived on Sunset Beach back when you could rent a place for $200/mo. My wife and I stay sometimes at the Sunset Beach Cottages right behind that 7-11 in your pic for a mental health break weekend.

My son will be down from upstate NY this week for a 2 week visit and requested that we take a bike ride along the beaches. I haven't been along Gulf Blvd for a while - how is the construction that they had going on? I'm still very leery of riding in traffic though. Looking at your cyclemeter it looks like you have an idea that I hadn't really thought of - riding on small side roads a lot and not on the main drags through town.

It scares the crap out of me because I never drive anyplace these days without seeing people totally distracted texting and driving!
