Love this sport.
This was my 4th ride. Having a great time learning and slowly getting into better shape.

I hate thorns.

Rode at Tsali yesterday. Not quite as intense or technical as I was expecting, but still a great ride.

Tsali is not all that. You should have come across the mountain and rode Dupont or Pisgah. Way better riding.

samburger 04-17-13 02:38 PM

Been wanting to ride at Pisgah for a while, hopefully next time I'll have the freedom to make it up there. I was at my in-laws' cabin for my brother's birthday & we were trying to stay relatively close to their cabin up the street from the NOC.

Yesterday went out for my second and third real mountain rides. Did about 20 miles of trails and was fortunate enough to be on two group rides in one day. I have some pics from the first ride, the second on I was having too much fun to stop and take pics.

group ride #1, danville trails: http://app.strava.com/activities/49336983
group ride #2, R.B. Winter State Park trails: http://app.strava.com/activities/49336965

Rode our local state land for the first time after a winter of heavy logging. It's really a mess now. The first pic was a fun little down hill double track that now is a smooth fire road. Slash piles are everywhere and riding in the soft debris is no fun. I know they need to make money off the land but it will take many years for the riding there to improve. Other off road enthusiast, 4x4, ATV and dirt bike will be happy since they cut many new paths to get to the trees.

Yes. Canyons = good riding, or so my memory tells me.

Fortunately, I brought some Mouflans & Nuggets back from the last visit.

Palmer Park tomorrow w/some of the Inflexiible boys, w/whom I think you may be acquainted.

Yep, I know a few. Enjoy!

My beer issue around here is all the packie's are becoming IPA freakin' happy. Blech. Large and good selections of browns, porters, stouts, etc. are tougher to find.

Believe you mean "IPA hoppy" :P We're having the same issue down here. Fortunately IPA's are my preference, but cool-weather cravings for thicker/sweeter beer can be somewhat frustrating with 10 selections of IPA's for every stout/porter/brown ale.

I don't know how you can drink a Ten Fidy out on the trail though, or even immediately after a ride. My stomach can't handle that meal-in-a-can for at least a few hours after a good ride.

Acquired taste/ability. One of these is best left for a viewing spot where you'll be sitting for a bit.

New section of the McCoullough Hills Trail. This is part of the 115 mile Las Vegas Loop. This trail will circle Las Vegas when complete. The trail is about 4 foot wide, but has some nice single track that splits off for side trips. All authorized by the BLM.
