Oh why not.
Soul Cycles frame and fork, xt hubs, mavic rims, raceface crank, wtb dirtdrops, vintage atac pedals. 34/14 to get me there, 32/16 once I arrive.

I am dying to ride it. I still need cable housing, a seat post shim, and my front derailleur. I should have it done tomorrow. Unfortunately my wife and I are going to Tampa for the weekend. I guess Tuesday will be the earliest time to try it out.

You got a Fox Ed? Very nice...how are you loving it?

Oh...I'd say I like it as at least as much as my last Fox. Maybe more. My Vanilla was a 2005 130 R. This one is a Float 140 RL. It's smooth...not quite as smooth as the 55 or the Domain. The lockout is nice for the stand-n-grunt climbs. The air spring is more progressive than the Vanilla was. At my weight...that's kinda refreshing.
I'm happier with the over all "ride" now than I was with the 55 or Domain. the Domain was king when the trail started pointing downhill. When I cranked the U-Turn down to 4" it was a little harsh and had a "knocking" feel over repeated washboard type terrain. Obviously an F100 would have been an excellent XC fork for me when the trail turns upward, but splitting the difference of the two and going with a Float 140 seems to be good so far. I don't notice any difficiency on the downhill sections, but I notice a huge difference in efficiency on level ground and climbing. I can keep up the speed and catch more air. I can tweak it out over little junk on the edges of the trail b/c I have more energy now to do so.

Hahaha...the Domain had to go prior to the Fox purchase. Odd...I made a good chunk of profit on the Domain. I bought it for $183, but sold it for $295, if I recall correctly.

Now, is it QR or the 15QR? And what did you do to your hubs to make them work with it.
#3087
Hope Pro II front hubs can do all of the above. All you gotta do is pull out the skewer, pull out both cones, popin new ones, pop in 2 clips, and ya got a TA. Takes 30 sec.
I settled for a QR b/c I can't justify the extra $350 or so for a QR15. In KS, I don't "need" much. Were I in a different area, I could easily justify the burlier build...but this is more fun for my area.

Now, quick question (I'm thinking of getting bigger tires). It is my understanding (according to the guide) that the fork can only clear a 2.4 (as mine can). What is the actual size of the 2.5's you're running? I think you said they were Excavators.
#3089
My Excavator is a 2.35" that measures 2.4". My Nevegal 2.5" would fit though.
If'n ya want, I can ship you my 2.5" to check clearance...gotta promise to send it back though

Always wanted a Zaskar...
finally can afford one...
Here's what I bought a couple weeks ago on sale:

Then I put on different Pedals, Seat and a Riser Bar:

And then I ordered some Spinergy Xyclone Enduro Disc's and Panracer Smokes...
De-Badged the wheels and cleaned everything up...

I can't wait to hit the trails !!!

Nice ride Y33 but your seat is way back and your bars are rotated forward pretty far. Is the frame to small for you to make the controls and seat stretched out?? A rule of thumb is your grips should be level with the ground.
On a side not your Rims are kickass, I love spingery rims on a mountain bike, I'm jealous.

I appreciate any and all feedback I can get. Yes the seat is back pretty far (I'm thinking about a post with more setback). Yes the bars are pretty forward ( I like a different attack position for different rides). I just picked this bike up and started my buildup. I'm 6'5'' and it's the largest Zaskar they make. I'll make adjustments as I ride her. I'm hoping weather, job and family will actually permit me to take it out for a real ride this week.
#3095
That's a nice theme for the GT,I like it. I enjoy mixin up my riding positions for diffrent rides. You can't have enough seat post, stems, and bars. It keeps your bikes feelin spunky and new.

Something bigger and slacker this way comes. I'm still no big hucker/jumper type, but like ugly steep chunky technical descending, and want to hit up a bit more east coast lift terrain this summer and fall. To wit: something a bit more purpose built with that in mind, but still able to be pedaled/shuttled to the top of some local stuff. Albeit slowly.

14.5' bb height, 46" wheelbase, 17" stays, 65* HTA. All 38.5# of her. 6.5" rear/7" front. Long and slack, lotsa' sag.
(my scale reads under roughly a pound, so i'm estimating 38.5# for the hell of it.)

07 Devinci Frantik frame, 09 Fox DHX Air, Totem Solo Air. Azonic Outlaw wheels, 150mm x 12mm rear.
Stinger guide, FSA low end cranks, plain jane bashring, M646 pedals. Fairly light yet cheapy saddle and post, Hope QR. Kore 29" low rise bar, Sunline stem, Rogue lock on grips. FSA/Cane Creek reducer headset combo (to keep the stock slack head angle but lower the bar height a bit) Avid Juicy-3 brakes -7" reear/8" front. SRAM X-5 shifters, X-9 mid cage rear, X-9 front. Kenda DH Nevegals -2.5" rear, 2.7" front, regular tubes. SRAM 980 cassette. A few extra ti and alu bits sprinkled here and there from the parts bin - not enough to really make even a dent in the weight, but I can say I tried.
Nearly the whole bike was built off ebay and other forum deals, for roughly 1/3 of what it would have run me retail. There is also a new link available from Devinci that will up the rear travel from 165mm-->180mm without altering the geometry and using the same shock - just with a slightly different leverage ratio. I plan to leave it this way though. Working on getting a couple spare dropouts from some Canadian folks. Devinci doesn't sell in the states, or online, and has no contact info on their website that I can find. Grrrrrr!

me too.
honestly, there aren't a ton of places around me that this big of a bike is at all needed for what and how i like to ride. complete overkill for nearly all my local riding - long enough descents to really take advantage of this bike are tough to get, and all of them require pedaling up repeatedly.
but wanting to hit more resort time this summer, and not be undergunned on my pitch - which is a nice, nice fun ride on the local stuff, but a bit limited on bigger stuff like that. even if i don't use the thing all the time, it'll be nice to have around in the stable. my bike quiver is very full now.
though the corsair marque frame really is intriguing me as an eventual replacement for the pitch frame. it's so new though. figure a season or two on the pitch, and any quirks or issues with the first marque generation will have been worked and smoothed out.

What you could do, is send me what you just built up, and I'll send it back when you decide you need to use it at a resort. That way its not taking up space.
