Bikes: Trek 4300
Ok, well I have been lurking around this forum for a while, and I am ready to introduce myself, so here is my story:
I have been a pole vaulter for the last 11 years of my life, and have been competing at the Division 1 level for the last 5 years. Last year I had a TERRIBLE year competition wise, so to get away from the sport for a little while I bought myself a Trek 4300 (hence my forum name) and went out to the trails. I fell in love. My 4300 was immediately not enough. I am going to try and continue to pole vault after I graduate on my dream of vaulting in the Olympic Trials in '08, but in the offseason, biking is my training, so I knew I needed an upgrade. During winter break this year I began looking, because I NEEDED something that can take some hits and drops. Gotta get that rush in the offseason, too. Haha...
Anyway, I got a KILLER deal on my new companion:

The bike was only ridden twice by a nice guy named Jared in Colorado (thanks if you are reading), and it is in FANTASTIC condition. I sold the Stance Kingpin that came on it for a nice chunk of change and upgraded to the '07 Super T. ODI Ruffian lock-ons and a Cane Creek headset later, I am ready to go.
Only bad part is we have another month or so in our season coming into championship time, so it may be a little while till I can ride without worry of having my neck broken by my coach if I get hurt. So it is going to be a little while until it gets dirty, so I took advantage and took some pics to show you guys.
Thanks, I hope you guys like it...
P.S. If anyone in southwest VA or WV wants to get together sometime this summer and go ridin, hit me up. I would like to get to know alot more trails.
P.P.S. Sorry for the huge pictures. How do I scale these down?

cream... Thanks. I am still in disbelief at the sweet deal I got on it. It wont stay clean for long!

thanks ekimyel, i've wanted it ever since the 06's were released on the speccy website - all the way back in 2005. too bad it's sitting at a bike shop over 10 km away... waiting for the pedals to be shipped back from norco (apparently norco is canada's crankbros. distributor). my pedal bearings were messed up, and the loose pedals made my entire ride suffer. fortunately it's under warranty, i hope they replaced the entire pedals
i'm curious, what was the deal you got on that? i've been looking at freeride fullies from speccy.

Got the bike shipped to my door for $900, sold the Kingpin for $225. It is essentially brand new.

Bikes: '99 Schwinn Mesa
my rigS
Howdy all,
I've been lurking for a few weeks, and thought I'd introduce myself with my bike too. (I intro'd myself, with no pics in another forum)
I'm in the Hampton Roads area of VA, on the NC border. I ride a schwinn Mesa that has been my only bike since I was 14. used to attach a cargo carrier to the back of it and secure a milk crate to it and that was my 8 mile commuter for my paper route and my girlfriend 7 miles further away. Up until I was 15 and a half and moved from MA to VA and discovered Jeeps and having a permit/license.
I'm 21 now, and wanted to get back into it, as I loved it so much when I was younger, and -if all else fails and my jeep breaks down after using it offroad, I have a backup.. Thankfully I haven't had to EVER resort to that. (The roads and the drivers are fierce down here!)
But now that I've been reading things on here and elsewhere, I'm realizing I need to update my bike, and that there are soo many parts, I can really make it my own. This bike was stock until recently, when I added the cycle pro pedals, Judy TT fork and maxxis tires. The rear rim is a double walled deore that is not 100% true, back when I thought riding on solely one wheel was cool. But it keeps me straight and is still pleasant to ride. the grip shifts have GOT to go, and the haphazard BMX grips i had the LBS modify to fit will not cut it anymore either. Time for some ourys and the trigger attack shifters.
and when I hear y'all referring to rigs, i've always thought of those to be motored vehicles. Not a mountain bike. But here are my rigS. One carries the other!

After being out of the game for two years, I am finally back!
Most of the parts are from 2003-2004....the golden years. Put too much time into building this that I can't justify buying a new one. Oh and my motorized transport is also a new acquisition. Single Speeded on a budget
