Bikes: 2002 Bianchi Veloce, 2001 Schwinn Homegrown Factory, 1996 Specialized Hardrock GX
Am I the only one here who still rides one of these classics?

This is a 2001 Schwinn Homegrown Factory
2002 Manitou Black Elite Air Fork
Shimano XT cranks 9 speed
Shimano XT bottom bracket
Shimano XT cassette and chain (9 speed, 11-34)
Shimano XT front and rear derailleurs (9 speed)
Shimano XT rear v-brake
Avid Single Digit 7 front v-brake
Avid speed dial 2.0 v-brake levers
Shimano XTR front shifter
Shimano Deore rear shifter (9 speed)
Titec 118 titanium handlebar
Titec Lil Al stem
Titec seatpost
fizik Poggio saddle
Crank Bros. Candy SL pedals
Wheels:
Rear- White Industries Speed Race rear hub with Mavic 517 Rim and Wheelsmith 15/17 gauged spokes
Front- CODA Elite front hub with Mavic 517 rim and DT 15/17 gauged spokes
At a little over 20 pounds, such a fun XC race bike.
This model year for the Homegrown was the last. At the end of the year, they were purchased by Pacific Bicycles. I believe they also own GT and Huffy. They decided that while GT would be their higher cost line, Schwinns from then on would top out at $500 as the volume brand, being sold at Walmart and other box stores. And that was that.
What a sad end to a wonderful line.

Hi Guys here's one of my Kona Hei Hei, spent 4 years upgrading her into a sub 18 lbs race bike. Unfortunately she has to go, but wow what a ride!

For my first post I though I would show you my new ride.
This photo was taken about 2 days after i picked it up and added the few extras like Niteflux 10w halogen lighting system etc, as i do mainly xc riding and during winter its dark by the time i get home from work, street lights dont help much in the scrub.
Ive also changed the clipless pedals for platforms as i had a bad experience with the clipless a while back and have been a bit dubious about using them since.
spec are here: https://www.avanti.co.nz/bikes_detail.asp?id=122&t=0
