just tore up some wicked single track. wrists kill. SHould I get a different bar?

Bikes: rocky mountain SLAYER!!!! trek, voodoo, surly, spot, bianchi, ibis

maybe a different stem. maybe stronger wrists. depends. whatever you do, keep riding and having fun. having a fun time riding a bike is all that matters.

Look into proper lower arm/wrist alignment (tons of pics, info online), and make sure you are positioned right. Might also be just the pains from the first few times.

Might just be a break in period. Keep a loose grip, don't strangle bars. If it persists higher bars often helps. Swap bar or stem whatever you want

Try this style of grips - they give your palms some support and help stabilize your wrists.



Also, if you don't already have at least a 25-26" (and preferably 26-27") bar then yes, get a new bar. The extra strain of trying to control the bike with a too narrow bar wouldn't be helping things.

I got a set of those last week... I like them a lot. I don't know how well they'd work if you are an aggressive rider that does serious uphill and downhill rides, but they work fine for me.

Yeah, I can't do Ergons on the trail because it is like my last 2 fingers aren't gripping the bar at all.
