Thanks!! Was going to ride today but looks like I'll take a raincheck on it. Anyone free for drinks tomorrow night (can't tonight, going to see my folks and try to get some kayaking in...maybe)? I'll be there by 11 - 288 Elizabeth at the corner of Houston (one block west of 3rd Ave). Cash bar, large pours, tell Brian you're there to see me and he'll take care of ya

That sounds like a good idea. You got life vests too?

And +1 to a picnic in the park. They let you bbq there, right?

Yup, vests, skirts, paddles, etc...

Don't know if you can take a day off but I'd probably rather do it weekday vs weekend in terms of car and boat traffic.

I'm going to 79th St now and getting the boat out. It's an oven out there. Too hot to ride. A quick paddle followed by margaritas and a burger at O'neills.

Sounds like a possibility. I'll have to get back to you on that, but it should be doable. How would we get out to LI? LIRR?

We'd ride out (~60 miles) and take the train back.

Me too! My 'new' wheel that imploded should be back soon so I can do some riding soon. This Friday I'll be sweeping the Times-up night ride through Central Park.

Jumping back in on this thread, I'm pretty close to Prospect Park, we could even do a BBQ if you guys want. I can go early and grab a grill...

Thanks for all the information on the Downtown Boat House!

It would be really nice to oranize a regular CP ride. I keep seeing people riding together but I am just too shy to join...

just fyi, there is a free concert tomorrow at the Empire-Fulton Park under the Brklyn Bridge

https://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=70

https://nysparks.state.ny.us/events/i...p?eventID=4674

Weather looks good for tomorrow; it's 3-8 pm (show starts at 5) and TA will be doing valet parking, as they do for the Thursday night films all summer. There's food and facilities in addition to a nice view.

Just be forewarned to the best of my knowledge riding is officially not allowed in the park - I think it's cool up to the entrance, but be careful after that - best to dismount once inside.

qw1a, (and anyone else) I ride the park a couple of nights a week if you want to meet up. I usually ride after 7, sometimes later depending on weather, schedule, etc. I can ride whatever pace (within limits ).

*creeeeaaaaak*

Snowy's in da house!

Tuesday, September 4th: 7:30 PM. Night Group Ride around Manhattan (~30 miles), leisurely pace mostly out of traffic. Meeting place near 36th and 2nd (PM for address) will hug the shoreline for most of the ride. Rain or shine. Stop off at Chelsea Brewing Company for some microbrews and food around mile 20, thinking of eating outside or close to the windows so we don't have to worry about the bikes. Includes excursion on Staten Island Ferry back and forth for closeup of the Statue of Liberty.

Rest of the schedule is here.

Well, we're already spending a day out at Coney Island on Wednesday (beach was part of the plans) and she wanted to sample some microbrews. Also, leaving at 7:30 (more probably 8 by the time we leave) now means most of the trip is at night and while the Verrazano is nice it's pretty much the only thing nice on that ride at night.

But come out on Wednesday! If a group does want to ride out then maybe we'll ride out, spend the day on the beach, skip the game, meet up with you guys for 'dinner' and come back as a group which would totally work too.

Hey all - I have to make the time 7:30 instead of 7 to make sure something earlier doesn't run too late.

Awesome!

I'm thinking of trying to go through Inwood Park too, not sure how easy it will be to get in but worth a shot.

Hmmm... (~30 miles), leisurely pace mostly out of traffic? I am gonna try this and see what happens. I have not done 30 miles in quite awhile, but I gotta bite the bullet sooner or later.

Great!! It's *mostly* flat with two (or if we go to Inwood Park three) sorta significant climbs. The last one is my most hated one because the road looks like you should coast downhill but it's really uphill (on the west side up around 180's coming south).
