Ceres is right at the intersection of 55 and alt 553. Manantico is sandy on the right side of the main rd, but on the left there is alot of hard packed gravel. You may have to spin trough a little sand at first, but it doesn't last. if you're goin out there on a weekend let me know and i'll show you where i like to ride.

Is this park reachable from Lambs road, Pitman? If you follow the stream south, do you get to Alcion Lake (again in Pitman). Old stopping grounds for me (if this is the place). We called it "Lost Lakes", but I know also it's called Mantua Park (or it was). It's been a good 10 years since I have ridden there.

Try GCC x-country trails or Parvin State Park, both have some interesting areas!

It is right off of Lambs road. It's probably the same place your thinking of. The local kids have been building some nice trails there. Parvins has some nice trails if you know where to look. Have you been down the long swampy trail in the back yet this year? Last year it was rough. It's probably under water right now anyway thanks to the rainbow lake washout. I'm gonna try to get there this weekend to see how bad the damage is.

i got the mtb out today and went to west park, vineland area, at Maurice river. almond road (540) is closed at the bridge, water is everywhere, roads are still closed. parvin lake and all around there still is swamped. the trail near the dam on parvin-mill rd is water covered. when i ride in the back area (with those little step bridges of 1 x 12 x 36 -48 inch boards), i walk the bike over.
maybe i'll see you riding on the trails sometime!

Check ActionWheels (woodbury), Peddlar's Shop (deptford), Pro-Peddels-(hammonton*), Beacon (Vineland, Egg Harber Twnshp) for decent wheels road or trail, or in-btween!

South Jersey Wheelman's Bike Club "Get Ready Metric Century" will be here 6/2/7. Hope to see you there (Ft Mott, Salem County) with your new bike!

Thanks for the information on the different bike shops around the area. I was only familiar with Action Wheels and Peddler's Shop, but will also check out the other two places, Pro-Peddels and Beacon, for a decent first road bike. Planning on sticking to the road than compared to riding off road. actually i did go to peddler's shop like a week ago and they had an 05 fuji team pro for $1399 and the guy said that he probably would be able to sell it for $1299, but at that time i was not sure if it was a good deal or not. came home trying to do some research on it, but was not really able to find out much, only that the msrp on fuji's website was $1998.

as for the century, it seems like alot, but hopefully by 6/2/07, and be somewhat fit. As of having no bike now, i have just been running in the morning for 2 or 3 miles depending on how much time i have and how i feel.

if i don't make it to the "get ready metric century" already made up my mind that i am going to do the bikephilly and there is supposedly another ride from the ben franklin bridge to ocean city, both in september i believe. really wanted to do the 5 borough bike ride in new york, but with no bike as of yet, will probably end up doing that next year.

Anyone think a NJ subforum would make sense?
