I'm not sure where you see $5.

At any rate, most of the "hassle" comes from taking the tube out and putting it back in, which you will have to do anyway.

The only thing you have to do to patch is:

(1) Find leak

(2) Sandpaper

(3) Apply glue

(4) Dry

(5) Apply patch

It's really quite simple.

About that, maybe a bit longer. I've been using DA 7800 chains because I got 3 at a sale. I think they might be a bit wimpy.

I'm putting a SRAM one on next time (soon).

5 bucks is nothing. Hell, even 10 or 20 bucks is nothing. I'd rather run a brand new tube than trust a patched tube (this is sort of along the same line as that chuck it or boot it tire thread).

Jen, this is what I used. The LBS guy said, "if you're gonna be lazy, this is the best lazy way".

I'm looking at these bike bags for travel. Pretty neat, but what happens when the airline dumps 500 pounds of suitcase on top of them?

I now have five. They're okay. For me, a little more effort "squirting" the water out. It's double layered plastic, with plastic paper in between. So you have to find the "sweet spot" with you fingers to squeeze it just right. Otherwise you're just squeezing the blank space between the two layers of plastic, if that makes sense.

Pcad says the soft cases work well for air travel.

Every once in a while he knows what he is talking about.

Cheap Kenda tube I picked up yesterday cost $6. Patch kit cost $2.50. The patch kit will repair 6 flats.

Read the other Addiction thread. Don't worry, focus on the second half.

Pcad and I had this same argument. He won, as evidenced by his recent trip with the Addict. It shouldn't work in a soft case, but somehow, at least for him, it does. Let's see how the bike fares on the way home.

I have some already. They stand up decently in the 105 heat we've been having. Hard to squeeze, like cshell said. They don't get as much condensation on them which I like.

I've learned, there is a sweet spot to squeeze. But... in the middle of a long ride, and you're tired, exhausted, barely able to hold on... Trying to find that sweet spot on a water bottle is a pain in the arse.

But, a new tube takes up less space in the saddle bag. I can never get all of the air out of a used tube.

I seem to recall Camelbak coming out with an insulated bottle that was advertised as easier to squeeze. I think Garmin used them.

Just used one of these to bring my 6" travel MTB to Oregon and back. Worked great even though I had to take the rear wheel off. Should be perfect for any road bike...

Air Caddy

The TSA opened it up going out and coming back. Doesn't fit in their x-ray machines, but it did it's job and held up great.

They have something looks very similar to the Polars. And the spout looks "odd", or "ingenious".

I love the Camelbak Podium bottles. They're not insulated but they're awesome (at least as awesome as any bottle could be).
