Thanks Shovel. I'm not going to alter training in anticipation of the February event. It's a pretty sleepy little tri in a rural area around here. Should be a nice event, though.

We'll find out on Saturday if she's going to be an expensive crotchety senior citizen.

On a side note, this vet's office is weird. I go there despite it being expensive, because it's half a mile from the house, and the vet is super nice, but the reception staff are all snobby, *****y, grouchy teenage girls. (Well, probably college age.)
The receptionists are my vet are awesome. There is this sweet old lady, then the most flamboyant gay black guy who calls everyone 'boo'. I love the combo when they are working at the same time.

Gotcha.

The first A event on my calendar for next year is up in the air. The promoter decided not to make it a USAC event. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Enough of the 33 digression, back to the pooping.

My first A event will be the Knoxville half marathon.

I need a hot trainer: someone who will make me like it when it hurts.

Did anyone else get their "box of crap" yet from Icycles? Mine came in today, and there's a bunch of stuff in it. 3 brake/shifter levers (not a set of any, all hybrid/MTB) a handlebar/stem mount phone bag, some Pedro's lip balm, a triangular frame mount bag, some type of large wrench, a bunch of red cable ends, a jagwire cable, about 10 small washers, three sheets of Sidi decals, a Specialized computer mount, and a whole boatload of other small parts that I have no clue what they are...

The last time I was in Atlanta, I went running through a very hilly area. I had my best times on everything (mile, pace). It was quite surprising.

so Jen, how is the swimming going? Any better?

I just joined the local fitness center with the pool. Back in the pool 3X/wk until Sept.

I haven't been because of the flu. Last time I went, it went well.

The run I mentioned.

In that case, there's nothing to worry about. The hills only present a meaningful challenge to marginal runners/fat people. You will feel them, though.

Swimming is a desperation exercise, only to be done when it's too crummy outside for cycling.

I need to swim 1.2 miles in Sept in hopefully 50min or less. Then followed by a 56mile time trial.

42 laps of a 50 yard pool or 38 laps of a 50m pool. That's a lot of swimming!

A swimming/cycling event? Like a duathlon?
