OK here is how I envision my tri experience:

Be amongst the last out of the water since I breast-stroked it all...

Pass almost everyone on the bike since I (like to think I) am a strong cyclist.

Then get passed by almost everyone again during the run since I will be racewalking.

it really depends upon the distance. The one I'm doing is a 56mile bike, but it is a 1/2 ironman. The sprints are much shorter bikes. Less time to make up.

So next time I am at the "Y" I will see how long it takes me to swim a mile. I am guessing 50 minutes...will that be fast enough to make the cutoff for a typical Tri?

OK I will have to time myself next time I find myself at the "Y," which is all the time since my girls do synchronized swimming and have practice there 3x/week.

I won't become one unless they start allowing kayaks or canoes.

There is financial aid. It's not easy, but you can do it if it's what you really want to do.

take your choice:
1) take out student loans, work through college, suffer for the first 5-10 years out of college to pay off the loans, then start making decent money, get a house, live a normal life, etc.
2) keep posting on bf about how you don't have enough money for cc, buy random bike crap, live at home, mooch off your parents, etc.

Where is it? I just posted a brilliant recommendation for the moderators to unlock the banned user announcement thread for comments.

I can only assume someone took that idea to moderator council for deliberation.

Apparently. I was reading it when it went away.

Funny what happens when a thread disappears as you're reading it. Error message says something about no permissions and maybe a mod has disabled your account.

For a second, I thought I had been banned for reading the banned member thread.

Then I hit reload and all was once again well with the world.

I could do that, assuming I didn't run the canoe aground. That one looks Fredly though. Short distances and it's a racewalk.

Well apparently since this is where you're supposed to go when you don't want to open up a whole new thread can somebody tell me how badly my Beanz thread got derailed? It ain't here anymore so I imagine something happened.

Anybody got the 411 on it? (I'm using that lingo cause I'm in the Addiction thread and any 5th Grade+ words are going to be ignored)
