I was thinking about going this past weeked since it was warm and windy, but decided on biking Saturday and Sunday instead of putting the boat back together

The only non-solid-color tape I ever used was some striped Cinelli cork.

wwow. membership to the Y is income based. I never knew that.
if you are married but only getting just a normal adult membership. is it personal income or household? before or after taxes?

If it's just you getting the membership, then it would be personal and not household income

Volleyball is only cool when attractive women in bikinis are competing. Male volleyball is almost as bad as male cheerleading.

I think it depends on the individual Y. I am pretty sure ours has just one fee schedule for individual/couple/family....maybe they give folks with low income a break but otherwise don't consider income.

I had a community pool membership in Portland around the turn of the century and it was a good deal then, but it's gone from $55 to $114 for a 3-month pass!

That's incredibly stupid. What happens if you lie about being married? Do they slap you on the hand and revoke your membership?

They wanted as much information as I had to provide when I bought my car. No, they wanted more, actually.

My Y is income based or you can pay a flat fee.
The flat fee is MUCH higher than the income-based formulation, for me. It's more than double.

I got bent out of shape when bicycle helmets became the law in the city I live near.
I only wear them for my hardcore rides. I wore them 100% of the time from 1988-1998 (or so), I reckon almost all of my rides were hardcore back then. These days half my miles are pretty mellow.
The helmet thing is surprisingly polarized in cycling compared to rock climbing.

Along the lines of helmets and legality, I found out recently that it is actually illegal in Georgia to ride your bike with headphones in. It is my guess that not a single Atlanta cop knows that such is illegal.

It was my impression that this is how ours works too. We pay $61 for a "Two Adult Household" membership. Never asked for anything but an application form, and they told us the fees before we signed up. IIRC.

That depends. There's a Snap Fitness less than a mile away that's $55 for a couple. It's tiny and there's no pool. I was a member of Bally's for two years and paid $40 a month, but paid a huge lump sum at the start, which I think worked out to being over $80 per month, plus I bought personal training time. (Stupid.)

I think many bike helmets are underbuilt for what people expect from them, but they have to be underbuilt to get people to wear them on a regular basis. Protection levels always involve tradeoffs. Reasonable comfort vs. safety in a crash. You can't max out both at the same time.
I'm not sure why you want to discuss this here rather than one of the custom made helmet threads.
What does this have to do with road cycling?

I wonder if there is any benefit in running in the aero position.
I am the antithesis of safe. Headphones, no helmet, I bike nude, no lights at night, and close my eyes at fast speeds to feel the thrill of the ride, etc.

The Y sounds a little crazy. Although the ones around here are pretty nice. Luckily we also have very good city run facilities that you can use with drop in/multipass/monthly/yearly options.
