chasmm - it's a rollerball.
Run tonight. https://connect.garmin.com/activity/68504349
44:52 was running, 4.77 miles. The rest of the time was warm-up/cool-down, no mileage count. Not much.

Sorry I just don't "get" pens. I use throw-away ball-point ones. Call me a pen philistine.

Hey guys, been working on the bike all day. So today I upgraded:
Bottom bracket - 105
Shifters - 105
Crankset - 105
Rear cassette - 105
Retaped the bars and guess what. I forgot to buy pedals. So now I have to wait until tomorrow to ride. Or I can "borrow" my wife's. Either way, today was epic.

I can't take it anymore, I don't care about water, ice, snow, salt, or anything else in the @#$%^&^%$ road. I'm going to road ride tomorrow if it kills me.

Full 105? A lot of "105" bikes have lower spec fsa cranks and tektro brakes to meet certain price points.
Not that there is anything necessarily wrong with that...but it kinda pisses me off when a MFR states a bike has a 105 groupset but really has a 105 drivetrain with cheaper cranks, brakes, etc.

It actually says that it covers chain replacement? If so that is impressive. I guess they are just counting on the fact that most people won't ride the same bike for five years, well that and the fact that most people won't put enough miles on the bike to need any parts replaced.

Ahhhh, I would still need a lot more incentive than that to ride a Trek.

Sounds silly, and not to mention heavy. My BB has a 5yr warranty. That's good enough for me. It came free with the price of the BB as well.

Red Shield sounds like a good deal if you ride a lot and keep the same bike/components for a few years.
I agree, wouldn't be worth it for most of the people here though, especially me.

Shoot, I was getting ready to go to bed but noticed that I need two more posts to reach 11,000.
Now I only need 1.

I'm not likely to keep the same components for a few hours. Actually that's not true. They would get handed down to another one of my bikes. Which would most likely void the deal anyway.

Elitism and fanboysim are both silly. Just sayin'....
What's the alternative?
Nice
You can get a 105 crankset for $90 (new) and brakes for $60 (used) and a 105 BB for $30 (new).
My road bike is a CX converted road except the canti brakes remain. I have the CX wheelset sitting upstairs in case I ever get the urge to take it off road.
