I guess the reasoning behind not racing the 2.1 is this:
At $8 Per hour, It took me 3 Checks (all of it ) to pay for the bike. That is a TON of money for me and, the largest purchase i have EVER made. That is why i really dont want to race it. the Thought of even a scratch on it horrifies me.

Otherwise, you might as well wrap it in bubble wrap and hang it on the wall, and then it's just art. Break it, and you can generally fix it.

A frame can be more efficient, stiffer, more aero, "snappier", lighter, etc, etc. A frame won't take you from a recreational cyclist to a cat 1 but it can make a difference.
