Tonight at volleyball a female who I think is a somewhat novice cyclist asked me if I know routes to ride around Knoxville.
Two questions:
(1) How do you pick a route for someone of an indeterminate ability to share the road with traffic? There aren't many very quiet routes nearby.
(2) Should I offer to go riding with her sometime? She's in a relatively new relationship with a guy at church and I don't want to come across as awkwardly trying to hit on her (which I wouldn't be, she's too young). On the other hand, it's possible she might not have anyone to ride with and might appreciate someone who knows the roads.

2) Sure. Does her boyfriend ride? You could approach it offering to show both of them some routes, which would make it less like you're hitting on her. Otherwise just offer to go with her sometime.

I applaud VV for wanting to spend time with a woman even though she is taken. Good man.

Sound the alarm.
She said she's already had her fill of the MUPs and Boulevard de Freds and wants a 20-30 mile route. I don't think jail bait makes it into graduate school.

Maybe she's not happy with the guy and is looking for someone with bigger guads. Spike the ball into his stomach at volleyball and stare him down; girls like the macho man alpha male approach

Tell her she can't have you, you are already taken. Tell her to look up routes on the local bike clubs websites, and to Bugger Off!
