The best I can do is to tell you I'm in Nanaimo right now... Do you know of any kind of web thingy like gmaps pedometer that I can update whenever I get the chance to show my route and where I happen to be at the time?

I also spent a day riding with the vancouver BFSSFG crew, namely Lyledriver who is an incredibly cool guy and told me all the best spots and took me on a tour of the city.
And yes, as somnambulent said, I'm doing this for the pure fun of it, because I didn't like my job and I need to spend some time figuring out what to do with my life, so this is a great opportunity. I'm making my way down to LA, or San Diego or whatever, basically just picking and choosing my route along the way.
The weather here is light rain all weekend, but thats a far sight better than what you guys are in store for. Jeez, it must be like a sauna!

Where is a good place(s) to buy used mtb in town. A friend is looking to buy and has a $400 budget, and wants a bike he can do some trails on. I doubt it will ever see dirt, but his money not mine. Anyway, he is blinded by bling and wants this bike. IMO not worth the coin. So, can anyone guide me to a store where he can get a good mtb for $400 or less?
Colin, seems 400 is his top budget, I told he to pay what you want for yours, but no go.

James: "Great minds think alike". Or is it "everyone imitate Dan because he's witty"? I can't remember which one it is. Meh.
Holy craptaxi what a weird day. My roomate said with the humidex it was like 40 degrees before the rain hit. It only rained like a mofo for a few minutes. Too bad the duration of the storm perfectly matched a run that went from Dundas/Roncesvalles to Queen and Logan and then up to St. Clair and Bathurst.

An Ironhorse? Send your friend to Cavern, the consignment ride he's got would be a much better value

Oh well, spending the day going to bike stores, could be worse I guess.

Ummm... the bike he wants will be 399.99 **plus tax**, making it closer to $460 for a pos. He's only saving $40 for a bike that will still need to be tuned up after a couple weeks riding - I'm sure Sportchek will be all over that...

I've dealt with customers who would rather just buy a new disposable bike each time their's breaks down than take a good bike in for regular tune-ups. There you go, Canadian Tire - they're all your's.

You need a new wheel: $40
I'll just get another bike: $15.

Though in our age of consumption and excess, buyin' a new POS must make some weird sense to some. Many people are afraid of nice bikes for the getting-it-stolen factor.

Okay so, stage 15 of the Giro ... a bunch of guys are heading up a climb, Didi's running alongside them w/ his devil costume on. One of the guys grabs his trident and stabs the guy in front of him in the ass with it.
... that is all.

You know it baby.....helmets for everyone!!!! BUY BUY BUY !!! Risk has been legislated out of existence.....hmm why is the population so bored and going on crime sprees? I know it seems silly but I really think there will be a true negative effect in generations to come to coddling our population way too much.
