What time is the ride tonight, 8 or 9pm? I have the camera with me, as well as lights! (And I may've been in the front pack, but I did have lights on ;))

Bikeforums being blocked off at work *really* sucks the big one :p I have to remotely login to my home machine to get access, which is a righteous pain in the ass.

I've got some baby pics if you want.

I just watched the Mercer thing, it was good. Funny for those who ride and entertaining for those who don't.

It's weemonkey.com. I got it a month or so ago and was just getting around to getting it set up.

So unfortunately the On One other doofer suxors. It adds essentially no tension to my chain whatever. Apparently the drop out on my old Bianchi is shaped differently than more contemporary bikes. Nuts.

What may work is to increase both the chainring and cog size to try to get the chain to end up lower from the chainstay and still maintain an offroad gear ratio. Anyone carry a 22 tooth cassette cog?

somnambulant 03-26-08 05:59 PM

Jamie Lidell's got more soul than any other skinny white dude on the planet. Plus his videos are usually pretty awesome.

That's all.

ps. duppy: love Quantic. Nice find.

Phil makes 22t fixed cogs

PSA Rogers cable internet customers - be aware that they are planning to charge you for any bandwidth usage over your monthly plans service cap. This means combined upload AND download. The charge is going to be $2 - $5 per extra GB.

!!!!

****ing ripoff rogers.

cavit8 03-26-08 06:33 PM

I need a cassette cog though. Surley makes one apparently too. Damn this bike is starting to cost me more than I wanted....

I_bRAD 03-26-08 06:37 PM

Is this something you're putting on a multispeed freehub with spacers? Why not just bust up a discarded cassette? the 22T isn't gonna be worn out.

cavit8 03-26-08 06:44 PM

Yes so that would work as well if anyone has one. I don't have an old cassette to break up.

Even with a perfect chainline I find Hyperglide cogs like to jam and derail when the going gets rough. It is large tho so might not be a prob. After using cassette cogs on S.S. for so long I really appreciate S.S. specific ones...they run sooo much smoother.

As an aside...can't you run the tensioner up or down? There must be a way to get it to work.

You may want to call C.T. - we've got something around that size in the display case (might be a 20T though). I can't quite remember but I saw it today when I was fishing around.

You run this particular tensioner up. It would work fine if I could tension down. It does seem kind of odd that there isn't enough play room to get it to work with my existing setup. On one suggested my hanger may be abnormal and that could be as it's a circa '88 bike. I'll stop by CT tomorrow, Mike. Going with a 20 is fine as it'll let me run a slightly smaller chain ring which would be handy.

I have a cassette in pieces. I'll go and see if it has a 22 cog, and if so,what shape its in.

Edit: cogs nasty and all shark tooth.

pyze-guy 03-26-08 07:48 PM

Dan, heres a stem for you.

operator 03-26-08 07:52 PM

Too bad that isn't in 100mm. I'd buy that immediately.

P.S If anybody comes across any quill 26.0 with removeable/hinged stems that aren't ugly locally (oyster or 3ttt evolution would be cool) - please let me know.

pyze-guy 03-26-08 08:01 PM

Lots of cranks for sale on clist tonight as well.

Op, 100 cinelli for you.

operator 03-26-08 08:11 PM

Yeah.. can't use those stems. I still have my super aero looking bars which requires a removeable faceplate or a hinged design. :(

****ing ripoff rogers.

Just wanted to +1 this.. got the snail mail from those ****ers today. *****es.
Wish I had signed up for one of those "3 year contracts" for savings, just so I could back out due to changes in terms of service.

Back from my week of travel in Boston/Princeton -- both are awesome places in their own respects.

Also -- post surgery healing is going well, met with the doc today who gave me the OK to get back on the bike as long as I go at a "reasonable" pace.:D

sweep242 03-26-08 08:32 PM

I ripped up a old MTB cassette & chose a 22t cog to go with the 44 up front on the bad weather bike so far so good.

In other news thanks for all the cool stuff Chris! I'm gonna have a *****in' single speed, fendered, beslicked mountain bike as of whenever I am feeling not-lazy enough to finish the project. Hopefully this weekend. Booyah.

It better not be a 20t, ****er.

I hadn't expected the DSR ride to be such a hammerfest. Maybe it's just because everyone seemed to be running a higher gear than me, but I was expecting much more of a cruise rather than hanging off the back spinning at 105rpm. My legs were already totally cooked before we even rolled out as well, which didn't help.

tuz 03-27-08 06:46 AM

I also tried a ramped cog on a SS and the chain dropped frequently. Try to look for an early 6-7sp cassette which weren't ramped. I got an old 18T from parts unknown and it works ok. The teeth aren't as long as a BMX SS sprocket though.

Flimflam 03-27-08 06:54 AM

Bah, had to work late, missed my visit with my daughter and by the time I ate, it was 8:30, so I missed the ride completely, hope it was fun, was a nice day out considering.

I see Bell is now throttling their resellers lines as well as their own, and now Rogers does this poop? Aieeee! I've been over almost 100% the past couple of months, I best tone that down I guess.
