The seatpost size for this frame is 25.4, and it is held in by 2 set screws in the back of the collar. The collar is integral to the frame. This seatpost is the Corima Ellipse, which is about 5mm thick all the way up (a blade, essentially) and was intended for both this frame and the Cougar, which was their track frame offered until a couple of years ago. Their new track frame is really nice, but has been redesigned extensively from the old Cougar it is still based on. The seatpost was a really difficult piece to find, as it didn't come with the frame and the bike had been out of production for several years when I found it. I actually had the post sent from a shop in Greece that actually still has some.

Oh sweet. Now I have to venture in there for the ensueing funniness. Sweet bike. Interesting frame, I've never seen one like it. I like it.

And of course the valve stem lines up with the hub logo....

Huh. I guess that's the opposite of what most people do. It's a holdover from my motorcycling days in the 70s, when, believe it or not, the manufacturers of high-end tires would label the tire on the 'heavy' spot they identified on the tire. It was intended to be placed opposite the valve to offset the weight of the valve. In the 80s, they would just place a colored dot on the tire to indicate the heaviest spot long after the tire was labeled.

Edit: fixed 'em. Fixed my track bike too. Only my MTB for some reason had them the way convention dictates.

what I miss?
hooray for dead streets during a TTC strike, its been an awesome day. Last check, about 55km logged since two p.m., the bike didnt even notice.

then the ttc came back and i took the trail back anyway. yeah spring.

Interesting!

Hey Wes "Biach" Somnambulant. Can I have dibs on your IRO hubs if you don't want em? Thanks. How did the race go this weekend guys?

I'm running one on the front of my fixed bike, they are awesome but the side of the black started to wear off really fast for some reason, ends up being like a gum sidewall either way i guess

Had a great ride in the Don tonight. The trails are immaculate and there's been tons of work done in there lately. I especially liked the new bridge under the railway bridge connecting the flats to the Taylor Creek parking lot. What a great day for a ride!

shapelike 04-27-08 10:38 PM

Speaking of the Don, anyone got the word on when the DSR rides there are going to start up? I seem to have settled into a Tuesday/Thursday evening ride routine but it's always nice to share the fun with others.

My last trip to the Don was actually a lot of fun after I stopped feeling like I was going to black out. I realized afterward that it was probably my cycling cap that did me in (hey genius, it's not winter anymore - you can lose the warm stuff). I felt like I was overheating after ... what, maybe 10-15 minutes of riding, but when I took a break (and ditched the cap) I felt much better for the rest of the ride and actually ended up have my best ride "back" along the ridge trail ever. I'm starting to get better with some of the ladder features and other areas where you really do have to hold your line. It's one thing to pick the right line, but having it be a "hold it or you're going to crash" situation is still something I'm getting comfortable with. It's coming along though, so yay.

k so let me see here, my memory indicates that theres sprints wednesday nights (DSR?) but youre reffering to a trail DSR ride? thats two kinds of awesome.

and uhm, the rainy morning goo has trashed my bike and bag again. can someone remind the crap to keep off me? or better yet, remind me to put my damn bag under my raincoat?

Im crossing my fingers that a rusty frame i passed on the way to work was actually as cool as it looked, and had a decent bb. That thing would make a sweet freebie, again, if the glance was accurate enough.

full fenders ftw!

now if I could just get the waterproof bike shoes...

freecycle 04-28-08 07:31 AM

feh! fenders are for the weak! I love the taste of grit in the morning, reminds you youre a man! HOO-AH!!

Ive decided instead of fenders on my raleigh, im going to get another bike with a rack and fenders, and use that on crappy days. Yeah, thats right. Im that excessive.

And um dups, plastic bags.

I used to leave 2-3 pairs of socks at work. Stuff shoes with newspaper and leave them somewhere to dry.

pyze-guy 04-28-08 08:14 AM

And fenders, thanks Cam, they fit perfectly.

TRaffic Jammer 04-28-08 08:15 AM

Ride.... and exfoliate, do you know how much a skin treatment like that costs in a spa?

freecycle 04-28-08 08:17 AM

+1

Like 75 bucks!

jeremywhitehorn 04-28-08 08:30 AM

i just got up and it's raining - i was going to ride my road bike but i can't bring myself to get it dirty (yet)...

Wes and I were talking about starting up next Tuesday night if the weather was good. Seeing the trail conditions yesterday and the good light between 6 and 8 makes me think we are good to go.

Yep the dirt rides are gonna meet at pottery trailhead around 6-6.15 and then do another pickup at Loblaws trailhead around 6.30. We're planning on a fun ride - no drop policy. All are welcome - MTB, Cross, 29er, etc.

Ordered from where? I actually just checked PBK for those last night and they were out of stock.

My gf wishes I thought 2 bikes was excessive (oh, and I'm on MY "rain bike" today).
