SO Wes: Being I would ride in a Masters Remedial Class as a Citizen Racer...why the heck can't you as a Senior? I'm so confused.. is it because you might be competitive and therefore should be under the UCI umbrella (UCI's take on it?)

We've been out... not ALOT but out yes indeed.... to be able to celebrate the night we met will be cool. We spoke of throwing a Halloween party for next year. That would be fun, we've thrown some nice bashes in the past. "Us" time is a very necessary commodity in a relationship. She doesn't ride .... it's probably better that way.

Honey.... do you mind if I do sprint races tonight? No?..... Cool.....

Yeah, I'm not sure. Hopefully Keith will pipe in at some point, although as a Masters rider it sounds like he wouldn't be affected either. I can understand perhaps the upper level competitors being required to have a UCI permit, but not us lowly fools in the S3/4 Beginner's class! If the M1 riders don't need one, why would the S4 riders? I guess technically by UCI standards 23-29 are considered "Elite", not "Senior", but, you know, 'same difference'.

Bah! Stupid UCI!

Here's the post from cyclocrossontario.com:

If that's true I'm pissed. I was looking forward to that race.

I could be wrong but it sounds like only Elite is sanctioned...meaning Senior 1/2. I am gonna call Matt at OCA and get a clarification.

So I could seriously just show up and race? that's too cool ... AS long as it isn't 50 bucks... Keith you up for the sprinting tonight?

cavernmech 10-24-07 02:31 PM

The Cent. races are UCI sanction. This means that the categories that we have been racing in (ability based) are not in play at these races. You can't race a Senior 1,2 or 3 race but there will be a beginner race that is open to Citizen Permit holders. The proposition that sucks for me is that rather than be in Master3...I will be in Master age group. This means I get Dave Dermont, Paul Greene, Paul Croutch, Steve Heck and Teddy in my group....on top of all the other guys who already feed me my a$s...DFL for me :)

MattRennick 10-24-07 02:34 PM

So hey, Keith... How do you feel about giving my bike the once over at sprints tonight?

I won't be riding it... because it's unrideable and I've got a torn AC joint in my shoulder thanks to the attentive driver that ****ing SMOKED me this morning... but I figured it would be good to have an expert look at it to see what I can save and what needs to head for the scrapyard. ;)

iherald 10-24-07 02:34 PM

I'm hooking a buddy up with his first road bike, and I'm trying to foresee the problems that he might have. He lives out in the country, so I want to get him a pump to go on the bike. I use the Topeak Road Morph which is amazing, but it's pretty expensive ($50) where MEC has some that are like $15. Anyone have any experience with the cheaper ones?

somnambulant 10-24-07 02:36 PM

matt: ouch.
keith: cool, thanks for the heads-up. at least I'll be there to point and laugh..?
andrew: keith has dibs on dfl, so don't let him down. :)

Ahhh, yeah - once our wee one came along "us" went down the crapper - lessons learned, it's early days yadda yadda (we split last year).

Not looking forward to facing the wind across the city, but I'll likely be swinging by the sprints on the way back home. Weather looks nice out of the window, bonus. Might be able to get my German friend and courier bud with the left-side drive fixie down for kicks and giggles.

TRaffic Jammer 10-24-07 02:41 PM

hey I saw a left sider this afternoon ...cranking a sizable gearing? Luckily I BELIEVE I would be running in the beginners race right? If that's the case I will not finish DFL... I will take someone out on the last lap if I must.. jk'n I wouldn't dare. Keith you at the shop til Gating..or East/Westing? I'm going home for kiddy/wifely hugs and supper first.

Yep, that's probably my buddy Dave... He's on 52:16 right now, DA28 on the back but his front is a spare he had to take from a hybrid and looks way out of place until he gets it fixed. He built it on Sunday, his first fixie.

shapelike 10-24-07 03:39 PM

Well that's pretty assy. Stupid UCI.

To clarify. All you guys with Citizen Permits can race the beginner race....I think most of the guys you have been racing so far are all also on Citizen so it will be pretty much the same field.

Andrew will be on a one day so he will prolly end up in beginner as well. At least I would suggest he go that route as the Master B field will be insanely fast and competitive....well except for me.

Do not settle for anything less than the road morph. There should be a version without guage retailing for ~$35 at MEC. Unless they're sold out.

Nuts. Sorry to hear it Matt. Be well.

jeremywhitehorn 10-24-07 07:56 PM

Hey Matt - stinks about the accident. i've got some stuff in the parts bin; if you're in need let me know.

fisso416 10-24-07 10:08 PM

Virgin no more !

Got pulled over by the cops on the way home from the race(s)...

Blew a red and got *****@d-out for it. He pointed out I was wearing black and said " I bet if you got your head run-over you'd complain about it" ( bitting tongue...) "sorry, I don't know what to say..." "obey the signals and GET LOST!!!" (drives away fast, stops at red - turns on cherrys...drives through... turns off lights)...

Wow...

Danhalen 10-24-07 10:41 PM

Christian: Wow that's bull****! What a tool (not you the cop :D)!

Sorry to hear about your accident Matt. Get well bro.

Band practice went late tonight so no sprints for me tonight.

Keith Is my wheel ready to pick up?

pyze-guy 10-24-07 10:57 PM

Update for those wondering:
Rob (Operator on the forums) had a nasty fall tonight at the sprints landing on his face.

We got him to the hospital alright thanks to Milosz who had his truck, it seems like he's doing pretty well, I think he got a minor concussion.

Wil and Mark stayed with him at the hospital so they'll probably fill us in in the morning. :(

Heal up Rob.

I_bRAD 10-25-07 05:00 AM

Get well soon Rob!

TRaffic Jammer 10-25-07 05:48 AM

Rob WTF? How and when did that happen....

LordFoo 10-25-07 05:49 AM

Crap.. feel better soon Rob.
