Nice Dan, congrats!

I hear you on the training... In my experience seeing others on cervelos they either pass you like you're standing still, or you do the same to them (but they don't care 'cause their bottle cages cost more than your bike) I've yet to meet or see an "average" rider like myself riding one.

Its still a niche brand; if Lance won 7 on a Cervelo, things might be different, right?

haha! If that were the case I'd expect the poser : pro ratio to go up! I wonder how long the liberty village assembly site would be around if something like that happened. I think it's cool that they actually are made IN the city (not concord or some other industrial area surrounding the city)

Hot damn! Sweet gig! I wanted to apply but I didn't have any experience at the time.

Well it's niche if you don't count it as being popular as Trek. But CSC did use it in the TDF.

It'll still make my commute on the QEW hell. "OH NOES! Snow! Lets play bumper cars! The isurance company needs more money!" Grrrr....why can't people drive here? It snows every year. But that first snow storm we get tons of crashes. wtf....sorry for the rant.

But the people in the ad looked so happy and in control with their AWD and ESP! Being able to actually drive is SO 1972.

The faster you drive, the less time there is for an accident to happen!

So Dan, when is the BF/Fixed Gear tour of the factory? :)

Okay, here's the deal. You guys make a diversion and I'll try and fit as many R3 SLs and SLC-SL as I can under my comically large trench coat.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, CSC has also won the ProTour team competition several years running AND have won the Paris-Roubaix two years running on the R3. Most teams use heavier frames for Paris-Roubaix.. CSC uses the (supposedly) lightest production frame in the pro peleton. :D

I'd still take a Soloist (carbon) over an R3 though I think, without having thrown a leg over either of 'em.

Last time I was in there, they had a guard dog! (although I'm not sure how "guardy" it was)

If Wes grabs the bikes, I'll be willing to let the dog chew on my fake leg.

On my ride across the country I was in NB and riding along this two lane road when I noticed a rotweiller laying between two cars in a driveway. Obviously the secret sound of 'tasty biker approaching' woke him up and he charged after me, he took a bite out of my leg. Thankfully it was the fake one, so all he got was foam.

shapelike 11-21-07 08:23 AM

R3 vs. Soloist?

... at that point I'd just be ga-ga'ing both and unable to form rationale thought. Logically I guess I'd go for the soloist since Ontario has hills, not mountains. Who knows how different they feel though, (I guess Dan, in a few months!) ...

And then he told all his dog buddies that Toronto bikers taste like crap.

hahaha.. gold. I used to get chased by dogs all the time while mountain biking in Newfoundland. Not fun. I have my own defensive/offensive tactics though. :)

ps. did you get anything at the auction last weekend?

iherald 11-21-07 08:40 AM

I'd go with the soloist personally since it is a bit more suited to just road riding, which I do most of the time, rather than TT's.

I didn't get anything at the auction, those Sputnik frames were calling my name but I don't have space for another frame, so I resisted the siren call.

shapelike 11-21-07 08:45 AM

Oh whatever, zip tie it to the ceiling above your bed.

PS. Cliched dog story w/ a twist (that actually happened) ftw.

TRaffic Jammer 11-21-07 08:51 AM

Dan GRATS! MAN say hi to Manny in Assembly for me please.
Op if you don't plug the spokes hole in the Shamals...will they whistle?

Fine. I thought it would make a nice addition to it, but whatever ...

TRaffic Jammer 11-21-07 09:02 AM

jeremywhitehorn 11-21-07 09:10 AM
