I got some SIDI bullets at MEC for reasonably cheap. An okay shoe except for the hard plastic sole which is very treacherous on wet rocks or anything hard and slippery.

Velotique has Shimano M075's on for $90. They get some pretty good reviews at www.mtbr.com although I haven't used them myself.

so to get over my lack of bike, I had to crash some parties in the last few days.

First Tom Ford party (which turned into the gucci after after party). Invite only, but i got in (spilled a drink on goreieo armanie, met tom cruse(or brad pit, cant remember/care), and a bunch of designers(D&G)). then crashed D^2 party tonight, then went to a better (more girls) party...

yup... thats my *i havent been on a bike in 1.5 months* gloat

the races sounded awesome, i am living vicariously through your stories... keep them coming

I have a set of Sugino Messenger cranks coming to me soon, will I need to change anything BB-wise? I figure it should be okay but right now I am running a set of Shimano 600 road cranks and there is a bit of noise. I hope the Messengers solve that....

Stuart, did Tom Cruise hit on you?

What chainline and what bb length do you have right now?

You might need to pick up a 103mm bottom bracket if you are planning to run a chainring on the outer slot. As for the noise, i'm running the same BB with a set of old Sugino GLP's and its pretty quiet. Although my chain is set up with 1" of slack, so that might have something to do with it.

2wg, nice bike! Glad to see you got back on two wheels quickly.

I wish, just older guys, and people from agencies around the world. I just worked my way through the open bar, and looked for under 25 yea old women (which i found none of...).

All of your praise has made me feel very warm and fuzzy inside, and so has my new bike. but i still shudder to think of where my poor langster is right now. cold and alone. confused. it's bar tape half torn off and dangling. be strong li'l langster! be strong. i will find you. people like to talk a lot of smack about langsters but i loved that bike. it was my first fixed gear bike and it's the bike that really got me into cycling. It was my bike during my stint as a courier. sigh...

that jersey makes me want rotisserie chicken.

Damn, I cannot recall and the bike is not here. I will have to check it when I get home....and hopefully when I get home the cranks will be here so I can put it together and go out for a ride.

How did you get into the Kids 12 and under category? :)

MattRennick 06-25-08 03:46 PM

Did y'all see this?

The Toronto Police issued the following news release today:
"Safe Cycling - Share the Responsibility" campaign results
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 7:30 AM
Traffic Services
416-808-1900
On Sunday June 22, 2008, the Toronto Police Service concluded their one-week "Safe Cycling – Share the Responsibility" campaign.
See previous release.
Officers issued 6,671 tickets to motorists and cyclists who were found committing offences. Of the tickets issued:
  • 3,691 tickets were issued to motorists for offences such as opening vehicle doors improperly, and failing to yield to cyclists,
  • 2,076 tickets were issued to cyclists for disobeying traffic signals and failing to yield to pedestrians,
  • 904 tickets were issued to cyclists for bicycle equipment offences,
  • 113 parking tickets were issued for parking in designated bike lanes,
  • 1,891 motorists and cyclists were cautioned with respect to a variety of related offences,
  • 89 bike rodeos/lectures involving 3,410 participants were held across the city.
The Toronto Police Service reminds motorists of the dangers of opening car doors in the path of cyclists, and the importance of checking blind spots prior to making a turn, especially for large trucks. All road-users have a responsibility to share the road equally by driving safety, riding responsibly, playing smart, and obeying all the rules of the road.

somnambulant 06-25-08 03:47 PM

"Bike rodeos"?! HOW COME I DIDN'T HEAR OF THIS SOONER?
