Anyone notice on the Martin-Goodman trail down by the Boulevard Club, they've sheared those 'dodge city' posts down to the ground? There's now half as many and you don't have to go through kinda sideways anymore. Actually, in a number of places along Lakeshore they've taken posts out. This an official 'Bike Friendly' thing or subversive urban planning?

So were they "officially" removed, or just cut down by an annoyed cyclist?

Anyone know off the top of their head a shop in the city that might have an IRO bottom bracket?
I finall stripped all my crap off my old fuji (pulling cranks with an 8 inch allen key SUCKS and I'm buying a torque wrench tonight) and am ready to start throwing everything together for the winter build. If I can get some wheels built up with formulas spacedto 130 I'll be good to go by the weekend and can hopefully stop murdering my MASI with road grit.

Going north through Bloor/Lansdowne, big white GMC van in the LEFT lane decides to make a right turn onto Bloor with me approaching. Hands in bullhorns, wasn't able to stop but I elbow/shouldered the van (sounded impressive
) and remained in clips and on bike. I didn't have the heart/passion to rip into the driver, I just gave him a sarcastic "Yeah thanks a lot buddy", then circled around to carry on north once he cleared the pedestrian crossing.
Shook me up for a bit but all is well, using my elbow->shoulder seemed to cushion things well.
edit: I guess it was a MECHA right hook
That's my excitement for the day, I hope.
Beautiful looking frame, btw - I was never a fan of white until I first saw nerdgirths Cyclops and this is another really nice looking one. Sharp advice with yellow->black!

Does anybody else love skidding in the snow as much as me? I'm actually in Guelph right now, so I'm not sure what the conditions are like in Toronto, but I went for a ride yesterday and it was like skiing on wheels... so much fun.

I have a Shimano UN-54 in very good condition that came off my IRO frame. You can have it for $0 if you like. As far as getting it to you, I will be at a physio appt. starting at 3 today at Vic Pk. & Kingston Rd. in the Henley Gardens plaza. I will bring it with me. Otherwise, a weekend hookup will be necessary. You can call me on my cell at fouronesixsevenonesixsixfivesixone.

To keep the good karma flowing I'll have a bunch of crappy components from a Fuji Hybrid for giveaway in the next few days if anyone is interested...

Spent the evening getting my **** together on my single speed. Ripped off all the derailers and cabling. Got the bottom bracket switched out and installed my IRO cranks. Mounted the freewheel and 19T single cog. Cut down my risers with a dremel (anyone using a hacksaw for this task is missing out severely) and installed my grips and popped the singleator on. At this point everything is coming together really nicely and I'm actually excited to get out on it, freewheel and riser-ness notwithstanding

My MASI finally got so filthy I couldn't not clean it anymore (the back of the seat tube looked like it was covered in grey stucco) and now after cleaning it my girlfriend is giving me **** because the tub is all gritty. I gotta get that girl a decent bike already...
Winter beater! It is ghetto fabulous.
Step 1: Chuck steel 24" wheels, derailleurs, brakes, stem shifters, and comically narrow bars.
Step 2: Replace chucked bits with 26" wheels, new Tektro caliper brakes/hoods/levers, moustache bars
Step 3: Profit.
I wonder how long it will take me to break the cottered cranks.

Edit: Wow. This picture kind of sucks. Sorry!

Would be ****ing rad if we had a viable opposition sometime this decade too...

Speaking of Cycle Therapy, saw Meghan (Megan?) on the road when I got on the streetcar tonight so I popped my head out of the window and said a "hey!".
Speaking of mechanics AND kids...
