I don't get this either, but it is very true. On my way home from work yesterday, I'm riding south on Yonge-no traffic around me. I want to make a left, so I merge into the fast lane. This woman in an SUV (it's always the SUV drivers) about 200 ft behind me starts honking her horn like her team just won the world cup. She rolls right up on my rear wheel and lays on it. Meanwhile, I am wondering how long it will take for her to realize that we are approaching a red light. She realizes about 100 ft from the intersection, and makes a dive for the slow lane presumably so that she doesn't have to confront me. After asking her what her problem is she responds "You're going to get killed!" (I love how these drivers are so concerned for my well being-it makes me warm and tingley in the pants). I explained that I was trying to make a left turn, and asked her how she would like me to do it. Then she tells me that I should use the pedestrian crossing instead. I suggested that she go smoke some more rock. God I love toronto drivers.

There's one every day, darkmother. Sigh.

Monday I was riding down Yonge st. and this cabbie decided to lay his horn onto me despite me being in the next lane over. I trackstanded his ass at an intersection and where he proceeded to hit my rear wheel. I got off my bike and told tell him I was calling the police for a hit and run as he was leaving (wasn't really going to, just scare the **** out of him for a day).

This ******* on a CCM at the intersection looks at me and asks, "Why are you making a big deal about this". He was lucky I was busy entering his license plate on my phone, otherwise I would've told him he was a ****ing ******.

What I do now, if someone passes me too close, is I describe a very small fish with my hands, shake my head, and spin my finger around my temple.

In fact when anyone does anything near me I give them this really disappointed head shake that I hope they are looking through the rear-view mirror at. Its a kind of passive insult in a way and the drivers (if they are looking through their rear-views, which I doubt they are) feel like an idiot. At least I feel like an idiot when people do that kind of thing to me when I'm being an idiot. Either way it doesn't make me angry to do it.

Now that I re-read this, it sounds pathetic, but whatever.

No, what's pathetic is that my instinct reaction "I'm 0.25 seconds away from a collision" shout is "DUDE!" Think about it: if I ever screw up, my last ****ing word on this planet is going to sound like some frat boy bull****. It pisses me off everytime it happens ... I need to train myself to just yell "HEY!" or something.

Now compare that to my workplace, where we gather around to watch the "woman in a forest squating and shooting a piss geyser" video clip. Oh well, your pay cheque puts mine to shame.

It's not like it was nsfw, you're the one that clicked a link next to the word "pwned".

So, who's going to the bike show on Saturday? I want to get there early. Meet for coffee at 9:00 + leave for the show at 9:30?

What time's it actually start? I might be up for a lightning round "as soon as it opens" loop through before work.

Speaking of work ... *zoom*

I wouldn't mine going extra early so that I can take a quick look at the bikes in the city of toronto auction
https://www.toronto.ca/your_city/auction.htm

Timing will be tight though, as viewing starts at 7am, bidding starts at 10:30am,the bike show starts at 10am, and its impossible to know when the bikes will actually be auctioned and how long it will take. Still, I'd like to pop in just in case there is like some colnago with full c-record for 5 bux.

5 dolla Colnago? Yeah right....

I'm sure there will be other cycle gurus lurking the auctions and watching for hidden gems...

It would be a pretty sweet score though...

well, I think using two quotes by the great one would be appropriate in this situation:

A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.

You miss 100% of the shots you never take.

Hay we got moved! Oh well.

Good idea [165]. Everybody else doesn't need to see our thread at the top constantly because we are obsessive compulsive posters. Its kind of like a sticky for us since its RIGHT at the top. As long as we post in it constantly, our thread will always be listed as the most recent post on the SS/FG main page

bahahahaha.. "Spokane Represent" -> Replies: 4

I'm thinking Moonbean (where did you expect me to suggest?) at 9:00. And leave for the show promptly at 9:30. There's an open house of the new bmx park out at Bloor/Dundas W on Saturday as well, which might be fun for a larf after we're done at the bike show.
