Quick question about nationalities and flags/clothing? Would a Japanese person be insulted by a white guy wearing a hat made using the look of the Imperial Navy flag? (the sun and it's rays). My wife has been doing some neat stuff on the sewing machine and I have an idea for a cap/hat that I think would be cool but I don't want to tick off anyone. I know national symbols becoming clothing is actually a crime in some countries. Not being uber-pc I don't think, merely respectful.

And who was with me on a salt encrusted Fuji pro at the DVD bridge @ queen this morning?

I find it odd that there's such an immediate consensus on where to get passport photos taken, but thanks for the advice!

Edit: I finished my post, scrolled to see that it was formatted properly and suddenly had to urge to claw my eyes out. Thanks, Sam. Thanks a whole ****in' bunch.

You are a disturbed young man Sam. Why my post brings to mind images of ^^^ is beyond me. Of all the choices... *sigh*

Here is some video footage a friend of mine shot of me trying out a couple of sweet jumps on my mountain bike; tell me if I need to work on my form or technique at all:

Sometimes I have notions of rocking the China flag on a T-shirt.
It would be "cool". I know I'm Chinese, but I am not from China.

If you think it might be disrespectful, then it is and will be to someone.
Fashion is only superficial.

Low key, that's how you wanna be.

Do as you please.

sr20det 02-07-07 10:59 AM

haha, I've seen people wearing this around.
pretty funny.

jet sanchEz 02-07-07 11:09 AM

What build did you just finish sr20det?

Yeah, a number of years ago, a bunch of my friends and I went to Whiskey Saigon (called Joe now, I believe) and they had all these Andy Warhol-esque prints and murals up of Mao. We were aghast. It was the early '90s, only a few years after Tiananmen Square and these tools had no idea who Mao Tse-Tung was or what he represented.

TRaffic Jammer 02-07-07 11:11 AM

The whole Marketing of Mao was weird, I know it had it's place in China, but outside?

No different than someone wearing a t-shirt with che guevaras face on it I guess.

Anybody know where i can get something like this at a shop downtown? I don't really like ordering from e-bay. And after shipping, duty, etc. these are still pretty pricey!

p.s. single strap vs. double strap. who wins?

jet sanchEz 02-07-07 12:23 PM

Hrm, nope, haven't seen those around. However, someone is getting rid of their track stuff on CL, email him and see if he has any track pedals.

I’ve seen that before, so I’ve known what you look like all this time. Ha ha

SR20 i saw you posted a pic of a FES frame is that what you’re talking about? Do tell. I never heard of that brand.

A print is a print i say, anything goes!

You can get some wellgo pedals that look just like the sylvans for about $20-ish.
Clips for $10 and leather straps for $15.
I'm sure any bikeshop can hook you up.

Just stick with single straps. I haven't tried doubles but I don't feel that it will make a world of a difference. Especially when clipless pedals are just in that same price range.

As for my new build, I'll post up some pictures when I find a camera.
Its a garbage green Marinoni.
I wish to paint it red and white someday and put a TTC headbadge on it
and paint 39E Finch East Express on the toptube when I have money to blow.

jet sanchEz 02-07-07 12:59 PM

Oh yeah, I remember when you posted pics of that bike. It had that cool maple leaf logo on the fork crowns, right? Nice.

There was a TTC strike that lasted for awhile in the early '90s and I recall a bunch of couriers with "The Better Way" signs taped to their top tubes.

mcmc 02-07-07 01:57 PM

Hey,
Doe anyone know if Bikophile is around anymore? The website is down for some time now. I'm trying to track down a pair of Formula fixed/fixed 32's in black. It would be nice if the cutouts are silver, though I'll go for straight-up black too.

Yah, last time I was at cavern they still had a pair of MKS sylvans. Was like the same price you see on that ebay auction.

Does anyone know a place in GTA that carries EAI or problem solvers ?
I need some 10x26 nuts for rear campy hub and those two are the cheapest alternatives.

At $40 per nut for the proper campy stuff, it's more than the hub itself :)

I believe that you can get both EAI and Problem solvers from QBP. We can get that sort of thing at curbside, but it takes forever to fill an order from QBP, especially in the winter. I would call around and see if anyone is doing an order. If you come up short, we could probably help you but it might take a while.

I ended up sticking with my same old boring pedals and buying a cheap pair of clips and straps for 5 bucks at cavern. I didn't know it would be so hard to find steel clips. I guess I'll just wait for something nice to come along. Being broke helped my decision making process as well.

If anyone's looking for a Cinelli Alter go to Curbside. $30!?

Zippered - The same people must be driving on Queen today.
