edit: Plus they have a guy who does massage and acupuncture. My upper-back and shoulders are pretty sore/stiff today (legs feel a little tired, but are good compared to back/shoulders)... a massage would be f'ing awesome. Thankfully (*knock on wood*) my tendinitis hasn't acted up.

What's wrong with a shiatsu massage with a happy ending...?

;)

Dan, glad to hear you're ok. I'm glad I'm not riding today, I'd be all stressed after reading the accident reports today.

Did the cop do anything to you (i.e. for not stopping on the red)?

I was going to avoid the Toby reference since nothing compares to "Captain Underpants and his Magical Bike Crash!"

Actually no not at all. He was super cool about it. He said something about it being a red but he didn't seem too worked up about that, maybe because I was making a right and I guess the van might have run the red too. I don't really remember if he was already in the intersection when it turned red or if he just wailed through. I'm thinking maybe he ran the red too and so we were kind of equally idiotic. Come to think of it that would also explain why the driver was so understanding... But yeah the cop was really really nice. He asked if I needed an ambulance and when I said no he said "Ok well I should just tell you that your options are more limited if you don't ask for medical attention. I'm not telling you what to do and you do seem reasonably okay and coherrent but it wouldn't be right if I didnt' at least tell you that". He was really top-notch about the whole thing. No tickets were written or charges laid. The driver and I kind of decided to call it even since his van was pretty ****ed up (which I find hilarious considering I was on a bike) and I seemed to be somewhat okay.

Sounds pretty similar to my van crash last September on campus (except it was a van pulling a u-turn in the middle of a 4-way stop). Some bloody knuckles and shredded bar tape for me.. a big scrape and a dent for him. Shaken, but not stirred. :)

Danhalen 04-23-07 01:51 PM

Funny you should mention bar tape Wes, because my tape got ripped a bit too... and it's this hideous camo bar tape. As soon as I finished wrapping it I asked myself "what the hell was I thinking???!!!". It just looks so dumb on my bike. Now I have two really good reasons to take it off.

Okay the wounded soldier will now make his way over to Cavern. Thanks for the well-wishing everyone! I really appreciate it! See y'all later.

well I'm glad you're ok and you didn't get a ticket.

somnambulant 04-23-07 01:52 PM

yeah, I had red tape on there when mine happened that I was incredibly sick of as well. Apparently bad bar tape = crash. :P

Which bike were u riding?

TRaffic Jammer 04-23-07 01:53 PM

.....and Danhalen has been given a standing 8 by the referee .... he's looking in his eyes to see if the stars have cleared. Danhalen is bouncing on his toes, anxious to get back in this fight, having been taken down by a lucky left by The Van. The ref...wipes Dalhalen's gloves, and Yes Indeed folks we have a fight on our hands.

The Lejeune unfortuneately :( Hopefully the front rim isn't finished/doomed to need constant truing. Luckily I was trying out some bullhorns so my nice shiney track drops were sitting safely at home. I'm pretty sure the frame is fine. I guess I'll have to get the fork checked...

yes, if you try to bride him, be prepared to offer a nice dowry.

I know many serious cyclist types that see an old friend of mine for massage. She is a registered therapist, a former bike messenger and all around nice person. Her name is Christine Schloen and you can reach her at 416-971-4445. You will prolly have to leave a message but she will get back to you quickly.

I originally read that she was supposed to bridge him. I thought "hmmm, Keith is into Bridge?"

What part of the city is she located in? I don't want to have to go too far outta my way! :)

The flag in my field of vision is flying like crazy...eastern rides home are the rule this evening.

Yeah, I had one of those "wow I'm fast days" out for a ride this afternoon. Got to Vic Park/Taylor creek and realized why. Glad I happened to be on the road bike as that would've been brutal with the fixed.

Anyhow. Today I discovered the fun hill on Scarborough road in the beaches. A nice fine line between given' er and deciding just how far you can push it before you risk careening across queen street and hitting the building on the other side (if you make it through the cars of course)

Glad you're OK dan!

SamHouston 04-23-07 02:39 PM

Give it a shot, "jr" may mean you'll be assembling the low end stuff, hell it really -should- mean that, but you may get to do other stuff, like covering sales shifts etc. Retail = a million things to do and no time to do it, you could get bored but you'd probably at least be buy.

And when someone asks what crank length for a pink childs trek with cute lil 10" wheels you'll be da man :)

working in a shop looks like fun to me

ps. check out the 11-15 year old categories.. they kicked serious ass!
pps. next year I'm riding a cross bike AND getting there a helluva lot earlier (and not drinking/skipping dinner/relying on bbq table scraps the night before)

Thanks for the props dudes! In response to the thread on the main page "Plastic BMX saddles?" after yesterday,....frickin' yowza. As for the dude who needed his race kit that we had, and missed his start, ends up he didn't: he rode with the 1st pack and sweet talked his way into classement with the commisaires (he's been racing forever). He posted 104th.

On a side note. Super-roadie turned 'cross dominator Lyne Bessette, rode P-A. She busted her derailleur in the first 5k on a singletrack section. Then rode on her 12t cog, a la singlespeed, I'd assume on a 39t = 87, and posted 1:59. Monster, for pushing that ridiculous of a gear.

Good times. Farmer tanz in full effect!
