I had the 7sp DT levers in the parts bin already.

I figured that, but you had to get the brackets for 'em, I imagine.

Frankenbike already had a set of Paul's Thumbies brackets, from it's life as an 8 speed. The 8 speed shifters headed West in search of new adventures, but the thumb brackets stayed behind.

I think the old Schwinn frame may get stripped and powder coated this winter.

Lefty forks look even odder in fatbike form.

...those three bikes I'm working on now are my first experience with powdercoaters. Assume that you will have to chase out the various threaded places, even if they don't directly coat them. And no matter hos much the people you pick will tell you they have experience with bikes, take it with a grain of salt. you can usually clean up what you need to with some hand filing if it's not threaded, like the fork crown race seat. I ended up paying some frame guy to mill two of mine, but the French one was 27mm mm diameter, so the file was my only option.

Otherwise, it really does seem to be a durable, shiny finish. I just decaled two of them, and the vinyl used by the bike decal guys seems to stick pretty well to whatever my guys used for pc.

Who do you use for decals? Your template or theirs?

given the strangeitude of both concepts, that is most likely the only way id ever participate in the usage of a lefty fork

would ride.

Ed Steidle in Orlando, FL did my rims very reasonably and very competently. He masked the brake tracks and interiors off very well. Clean and neat. Only $25 each, no minimum. Sweet.

I thought the use of fat tyres was to obviate the need for a suspension fork. Either Cannondale didn't get the memo or I didn't. Probably Cannondale has an order the length of my arm now for it, though. Just because people have to.

And is that one of the new 42T cassettes on the back.

All I can say is.. oh dear.

...I've been lucky enough to find what I've needed either at Velocals (direct) or the Cyclomondo guy who sells his stuff on E-bay. They are not cheap, usually about 40-50 bucks per bike.

With powdercoat, you really don't want to get involved in clear coating them, so it's worth spending the extra ten or fifteen bucks for the ones with the protective finish that don't need overcoating.

So I have been using a first generation Pebble "smart watch" for 2 weeks now. Overall, I am pleased. Mainly I use it to eyeball any texts or calls I get at work so I don't have to pull my iPhone out of my pocket. I am disappointed that there is no Strava app but that's life.

I got one free for something at work. I like it as well.

It's smart enough for a watch.

For what it's worth, the strava app on the Apple Watch takes about 30 seconds to open and then asks you to sign in every time you open it...I still pull my phone out of my pocket to start strava (when I don't use my garmin) because it's faster.
