I did fine in Chemistry. Like Heathy said, once you understood the patterns and where everything was going it is easy. I had trouble with Physics, Thermodynamics and the Electrical Circuits course. My real frustration in the Civil courses was Hydraulics. I hated those classes.
Still, I found my thing when I transferred to the county. I immediately took to construction engineering, surveying and design. I thought that I had gone to heaven after leaving the bureaucracy of IDOT.
My last 8 years were finance and general management but I still snuck a small bridge construction job in for myself every year.

My big hang up was soil mechanics. What was odd was that one of my jobs at IDOT was running a material testing lab where a lot of soil testing was done. I ended up doing OK because I had guys under me that knew what they were doing.

Seriously, I worked for a large county and it was night and day compared to state work. Everybody had a great sense of stewardship of the road system from the lowest newbie in maintenance to the engineers, secretaries and County Superintendent. Hard working and dedicated people, something I rarely experienced in state government.
You gave an engineer or a maintenance man a job and he/she did it with professionalism and little supervision.

We had Baja Fresh (taco fast food) for dinner last night. Its fine. One grilled chicken taco and a side of pinto beans. I got the protein I needed to top off my day, and I had room in my calorie budget. Fast food is not the problem per se, you can still eat it. There's some evidence that processed foods may have more available calories than whole foods but if you keep it to a minority percentage of your total intake, you can eat normal American stuff pretty regularly.
Lol, it was the two glasses of wine that pushed me over my calorie budget for the day. But that's a different issue entirely.

I don't think they've done that on the classic rock station here, yet. Though they have slipped in some U2. The classic rock station here is so stale and repetitive you can literally set your watch to it. At the bike shop, one of the guys came from another shop that played that station non stop. He never had to look at a clock because he knew the time by the playlist. It's awful.

I was fortunate. When I went to college I knew that I wanted to get an engineering degree. The other fortunate aspect was that I received a scholarship that paid for tuition. The unfortunate aspect was that this was in the early 80's and the economy was in the tank. I ended up going to school two summers and I had to foot that bill on my own. I ended up with a small student loan of about $4000 to cover those two summers.
