Shimano DI2 Electronic Programming- Do I need the programmer?
With the DI2 electronic shifting my understanding is that the LBS can program it when you purchase it. Does the bike come with the programmer to do at home? Do I need the programmer or should I get it? Or does it have to be done professionally at the shop? Due to inventory I am not getting my bike at a store close to me, so was just trying to figure out what I need to do in case I want to ever change the settings, etc. and if it comes with the programmer or I need to purchase it. Any input is appreciated! Thank you.

Do you currently have the Di2 to USB interface and computer that runs Windows? That's really all you need. Everything is listed here E-TUBE PROJECT

If you're using the 3-port (SM-EW90-A) or 5-port (SM-EW90-B) junction boxes you don't need the programmer. The USB charging cable can be used to plug into a Windows computer. If you have older e-tube Di2, you need the programmer. However, it's cheaper to buy a new junction than the programmer.

The dealer manual is easy to follow and very helpful on any adjustments.
Go to the Shimano downloads page for Di2, here:
si.shimano.com/#seriesList/51
and download & save the dm-ul0001-02.pdf Dealer's Manual.
Shift 3 cogs
You can do this with the e-tube free software, or have the LBS do it. It's much better than the default "shift all the cogs" on a long press.
I have my Di2 set to "shift 3 cogs" on a half second (or longer) "long press". So at the base of a hill, press both bottom paddles with a long press to go to the 34 and to three smaller cogs. Slick. A long press on both top paddles goes to the big ring and three larger cogs at the top of a hill.
Wiring tool
Make sure they provide the Di2 wire tool. It should come with the bike. It makes plugging or unplugging the wiring much easier.
