Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh yeah - my Mrs has a WP, too. Not sure what we're going to do when she's due for an upgrade in a couple months, though - VZW is trrble with the WP selection and support.

When I got my last phone HTC had just come out with a WP. I decided to go with the droid instead of Win. My next phone may very well be Win.

I used to have a Blackberry, but Virgin Mobile seemingly cut the data speeds for the Blackberry users. My wife would have great speeds and mine would be at a crawl over the same network.

They also had a separate customer service department for Blackberry only. I think they were desperate to eliminate all the overhead so they pushed out the users by making the service to them horrible.

That is mainly why I got droid last time instead of WP.

Maybe VZW isn't any better.

Did I choose well??
That'll work.

Oh yeah - another +1 on the Fat Tire. I have a few bottles of it in the 'fridge right now. Dunno why, but I'm all IPA'd out - it's been giving me headaches lately. Chainbreaker, also from New Belgium, is also pretty tasty.

My LAM (Local Asian Market) didn't have individual packs of Shin Black ramen, so I bought a 5-pack. I'm a little concerned that I might opt to have ramen for lunch each of the next five days.

Not a fan of IPAs. Bloody hate that over half the beers in any give menu are IPAs. I think Porters are my favorite.

Also, took my stock wheel to the LBS and they told me they can't convert it to 11-speed. Guess I'll need a new wheelset (or just stick to my current one and hope I never need a backup.)

That's a different Windows Phone. That would have been the aptly-named WinCE, if it was before Android was out.

You'll be okay. Portland is a city which sustains itself on ramen, coffee, gourmet ice cream, and microbrewed beer.

Wow - sounds like I need to move to Portland (exception to coffee - no caffeine here). Mountains and water - the best of both worlds!

And the fourth is actually my mother, who in her fury at Apple over the issue at the "Genius Bar" switched away, and knew how much I like mine. She likes it too, in fact.

Edit: Ok, so we're over the four just in this thread.

I only knew what I read in news reports whenever they increased security regulations. I remembered when one guy tried to blow up a plane with a bomb in his shoe, so suddenly you had to take your shoes off. For some reason, I just assumed they did that for a short while and it wasn't a thing anymore. But there I was, waiting in line and everyone was taking off their shoes, belts, everything. I had to look around a few times just to make sure it was ok to wear my glasses in the scan booth thing. I didn't even bother carrying soap, etc. Just used the hotel stuff for that.

And yeah, the body scanners. You just don't feel like a free person when you go through that.

My co-worker flew on vacation recently and mistakenly left his ID in his back pocket. They asked him if he had anything in his pockets and he said no. So they did the scan and he got flagged for a full body pat down due to having his license in his back pocket.

On the plus side, it was nice to confirm the hardware in my left knee does not pick up on scanners. Also good to know that I am not on the no fly list.

All in all, it was a really pleasant experience. I got lucky in terms of easy baggage claims and no chatty neighbors. I was smart to load up my phone with some TV and movie stuff because the on-flight wifi was expensive and didn't allow streaming services anyway.
Also see if you can get the employer to spring for the TSA Pre-Check fee. Get it even if you have to pay. It is well worth it. Much less security hassle.

Hands down, their best:

They have the cheapest model on the floor, but it has a steel fork, I'm not into the color and the wheels are not tubeless ready which seems insane for the application. I could rebuild the wheels (I need to do a dynamo hub anyway) and get a carbon fork down the line. It could work. Still, I can't seem to get excited about it.

The next model up and the one I really like is sold out, so it's unlikely I can find one.

The most expensive model is black, which is kind of blah, and it has a suspension fork. I could sell the fork and get a carbon fork to replace it. But I really don't want another black bike.
So I just realized something. The Deadwood and the Fargo are very, very nearly identical in geometry. I think they already have a large Deadwood at the shop. I could just build a 29'er wheelset with a dynamo hub and keep the 29+ wheelset around for kicks. I get the versatility without an over complicated frame. And I dig the looks of the Deadwood.
