Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

120 miles yesterday. Got in the car afterwards, found myself leaning into corners. The harder the turn the more I leaned.

My mom insists on driving no matter who else is in the car and that included much of the time while my dad was alive. (She has also told me numerous times she could never be a stoker.) Dad didn't care since he was going to hang onto the Jesus strap no matter who was driving. If my mom is not in the car but my sister is then she insists on having the wheel. I enjoy having someone else drive some of the time because it gives me a chance to enjoy the scenery we're passing. I try to keep advice like "Watch out for the cow" and "Hey hey! If I'm holding the car down with my butt you're going too fast" to a minimum.

"Have" to drive? I want to - being a passenger sucks.

Also sucks? Chicken. Forget the big piece of chicken; I want the big piece of beef.

I hate driving. And I expect I have driven longer than anyone else here, more than 54 years. Anyone else can claim the wheel when I'm going somewhere. Driving as fun is a marketing trick foisted on the American public. And no, it doesn't matter what car is involved.

Interesting - I love driving, and look forward to open highways. You can keep city traffic all to yourselves though. Boston traffic is miserable, but get up the coast of Maine or the mountains in NH or VT and it's pure heaven.

Despite commuting 800 miles a week for 21 years (yes, I've mentioned it before) I still don't hate driving. I just hate long distance daily commuting.

My ex used to wonder why I never wanted to go anywhere on weekends. Meanwhile she wasn't offering to drive, she was all comfy reading a book or sleeping while I drove daily. That's part of the reason she's an 'ex'. People will be unfair if you let them.

Does not liking chicken mean you don't like the many foods thattaste like chicken?
Like frogs legs or squirrel or rabbit or rattlesnake or so many other things.

Haven't tried any of those. The problem with chicken is that it just doesn't taste like much of anything. The texture, flavor, and really everything else is just completely inferior to beef or bison.
