Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was in the 9s, 9:20 or something. I kept it dialed down to ~200 watts though, if I drope the hamer I reckon we will be seeing low sixes.

I missed how fast Zwift thinks I am. 22mph when doing 150 watts on the flats? Sounds legit.

If you see me pass don't forget to wave. I'll be the one giving you the look.
Next ride do the FTP test. Then, do the interval workouts. If you don't have the FTP set right before hand, it'll be a waste of time.

I already know my FTP (also, FTP tests hurt.) As for intervals, I'll probably stick to TrainerRoad for that, as from what I read Zwift cannot control the resistance based on my PM, which apparently TrainerRoad can.

I still haven't done an FTP test in the game, but I did try to do a lap of the Richmond worlds course as fast as I possibly could a while back which takes something like 24 minutes, so it set my virtual FTP based on that and it seems reasonable given how hard the structured z-power based workouts are when I do them.

The actual numbers might be wrong, but the workouts are based on the z-power so it should be just as effective as using "real" power.

My MIL, who is from West Virginia, proudly reminds us that first cousins can't legally marry there but they can in Virginia.

Small victories, I guess.

I have a really long torso, so disproportionately more weight is on my hands given the same height and bike setup. So I have to be more upright to compensate for it and get through the rides. Better core strength would help me a lot, too.
Yup. For me, it's being tired and not using my core as much as I should, and instead propping myself up with my arms, putting pressure on my hands. Along the same lines, my ass hurts more when I'm tired, too, because I'm not unloading weight by putting it in to the pedals.

The fitter who works in the shop I ride with usually asks people to try to ride in the drops, and then let go with their hands but still hold the same body position while pedaling for ~10 seconds or so.

If they can't do it, they're too low or their core needs a lot of work.

Obviously not a one-size-fits-all approach, but it's an interesting rule of thumb.

Silly machinations? You're such a hopeless provocateur. Those kids have athletic skills you couldn't approach in your wildest dreams, except in a lips flapping event.

You are right. And several other states too. Jus' sayin' that is isn't a moral (perversion) issue as much as a gene pool issue.

What does that have to do with it? If you can't compete, you aren't allowed to wonder about what you see? When did that become a rule?

So answer this: do track and field competitors do anything comparable to swimmers while waiting to take their marks?
