Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, agree. I think of all the "recent" sports added to the Olympics in my lifetime, beach volleyball is the most enjoyable to watch. It's not just the bikini thing, it's really a fun sport to see played well and the men's matches are fun too.

I'd love to go one day, definitely a bucket list thing. My wife went as a kid to Atlanta in '96 and remembers the table tennis vividly as a highlight.

I'm really clogging Addiction up today, aren't I?

Cue Doug quoting me and pointing out that it's not just "today" in 3... 2...
I went to the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

I saw the torch relay for said Olympics . . . twice in one day, actually. Once in Murray County (GA) and once in Whitfield County. Fun times.
My dad and I ran with the torch relay, also in 1980, when it passed near our town.

Haven't lived anywhere long enough for that. Closest was our previous abode. Appliances were 14 years old. We sold them with the house.

What does "run with the relay" mean? Did you carry the torch? That's the only thing that counts.

I set a PR on my Catholic parish walk today: 44 minutes. When I started doing it I took an hour.

Are they starting to recognize you or are they becoming familiar with the blur of your passing?
