Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For the record, I'm atop of the Strava leaderboard. If you have a longer ride, please don't post it until tomorrow, I want to savor the feeling.

No, I mean no cell reception. A weekend of news through the paper and TV, only contact with the outside world through the actual room phone.

Oh it was hell. Hell upon hell, like Dante Alighieri couldn't even dream.

A long time ago, there were only three channels on the TV. In Scotland, there were only two. BBC and Grampian. Sometime Grampian didn't come in as well, so that left just BBC.

I can remember there being only two chanels here. And one shut down each evening with this.

The weather was fine. However, the neighbor watching my cat had no way to contact me if anything went wrong. And no email, no football news, no anything. It was, again, awful.

Course, that guy's probably going to be my running coach for Dallas.

My first baby photos are black & white. By about a year old colour ones start to appear.

Again I don't see the problem. It's refreshing to be not constantly connected. I suggest you try hiking in the woods. The world won't end. And if it does, well what does it matter anyway.

Did anyone see the Solvang Double Century results?

8:44:37 was the winning time... by a recumbent.
