They never see us. Or so they claim.

I have a very bright B&L dynamo driven headlamp, with reflector attached. Out on the road everything is fine. In the town, it's invisible, especially to traffic approaching from in front of me. In the daylight, on the same street, they simply expect me to pull over and let them by. I don't.

No we have a sailboat. We sail over and stay on the boat. We have been sailors way longer than I have been a cyclist. In fact we moved to LA in part for the year-round sailing opportunities.

I bought the mountain bike specifically to ride over on Catalina Island. There's few paved roads over here and none in the anchorages we typically use. So every time we came over, it was a little gap in my training and that was causing me internal conflict- stay home and ride or head to the island to relax?

Now with the mountain bike, I quite literally have the best of both worlds, I am liking it way more than expected. Mr H is a "project" guy. He just loves noodling around on the boat fixing or optimizing something. So it works well for him to- he can work on whatever he wants to get done in peace while I am off riding. The riding is fine for me solo, there's just enough people around to make that viable. Or we bring a cycling friend or friends over and we ride together.

And doglet can come, she is a great little boat dog. :)

RIP, Michele. He, apparently, left two young sons. Heartbreaking.

Might I suggest...

Fixed.

I always thought it was "duct tape" for air ducts etc...did I misunderstand? Or is duck tape a pun??

nm I read about it. Duck is a type of fabric and the original type of tape is really duck tape, maybe kinda sorta but not really.

Like I said before, you can now shoot screws out of nail guns... and they also have auto feed screw guns (not nearly as fast as pneumatic) but will countersink for you, etc...

Power tools for screw installation do indeed exist, and I can tell you they work amazingly well. The ones we use at work are for custom shipping crates for equipment that weighs a ton or more. We're shooting like 3+" deck screws, and then can easily remove them with a screwdriver (etc) on site when it's time to unpack the crates.

Yeah but I'm guessing the cost of that machine is prohibitive. My issue is, if the costs get too high I might as well be replacing sections. THEN I have the headache and expense of hiring help, then staining to match existing. :crash: Headaches!

Well if the wife can stand you 24/7, surely we can in short doses.

No, it is , in fact, duct tape. The ignorant public changed it by mistake. Then a major supplier adopted the name and the emblem to appeal to the market. The rest is history. There is no relation to duck fabric. If there were, you wouldn't be able to tear it.

Or rent one. I think we just have a standard nail gun. I'm not sure what screws we use for it, though.

topslop1 and I are playing the waiting game for the trails to dry out. Should be open at noon. And then he's going to be stricken with another addiction, because MTB around here is hella fun.

Could you guys make this fence thing any harder?

Trsnrtr 04-22-17 09:31 AM

I've given up on counting dead armadillos along the road.

At home it's just raccoons, possums, squirrels, skunks, rabbits and coyotes.

I don't think we've gotten into the fine art of post setting, yet. :innocent:

I have a confession to make. I wore bibs today. My only pair, obtained as a gift. I think you all deserve to know my now experience-formed opinion: meh.

Sure, we could go P&R. Fence vs. Wall, etc. :)

One of my favorite lunch spots in Houston is The Armadillo Palace. Best venison (I hope) chili in the world.
