I have let it go.

That said, IIRC the alleged finish time was quite good. Finishing in something like 17 hours would have been more respectable. The whole thing was around wanting to be the center of attention and receive virtual adulation... like munchausin syndrome, but with made up athletic prowess instead of a fake illness.

She didn't need the ironman for attention here. She already had it because she was a single young female. That was icing on the cake.

I always got the impression that more attention was better than less and she sure didn't seem to like it when another female was around to steal her thunder.

Bull, Velo Vol.

It was a constant. Random pics of standing next to a fancy car, begging the question... New car?

Posting about the social work/kids in peril deal... Such sympathy invoked.

I could go on, but it isn't relevant. The memories we choose to keep are uniquely our own.

Again, the bike portion was completed, so that was a plus.

So, I just got a much more accurate low pressure presta tire gauge. My SKS airchecker decided to start giving me random values. So now that I've got this nice accurate analog gauge, I'm eating dirt on rides from no traction.

I can't tell if it's just a change in pressures, or my tires really have gone to crap. They're worn, but on the center tread. If I get to the outer that's when I have issues.

Very uncharacteristically I had 2 incidents yesterday. One had me off line through a high speed creek thing (where you haul ass down hill at full speed so you can make the climb on the other side). That was almost an epic crash, but I managed to save it at the last second. The second time I was a little bit to the inside on a berm and the whole bike went out from under me. Ended up very minor, but I did put the bike down that time.

My new wheels/tires can't get here soon enough. Plus tires are awesome, but they're real finicky about pressures. 1 psi make a huge difference. You can usually tell a .5 psi change.

Edit actually, make that 3 yesterday. I was all over the place all day.

So, we've beaten the VeloGator horse to death I think. Let's take bets on the next Addiction poster to have a public meltdown or falling out and vanish for good.

My money is on Mumonkan. That guy is a jerk.

The Return Of Titanium | Salsa Cycles

^ ^ I never understood the wide drop bars with the levers tilted inward. Can someone explain that to me? Seems like it'd be uncomfortable to use the hoods.

I tried that and got covered in poison ivy

Edited to add: Got some calamine lotion during lunch. Feel much better now :)

They make it in "clear" flavor, too! I was expecting the pink goop I'd used in the past.

I think that having your wrists turned in is a more natural position than perpendicular, but does look odd. The drops on the Haanjo flare slightly, and I do have the levers set up to follow the drops, so the hoods cant inwards a bit, but not half as much as that Salsa (I'd replace the bars if they did).

Overall, that Salsa doesn't do it for me, though. Too MTB-ish - I don't find that style of squat/super compact frame to be attractive.

I just read the slowtwitch thread. I wish I hadn't. Oh well.

Sure, she played it up, but the reason she could was because she was a single female.

You or I could post the exact same things as she did and it would get a completely different response.

Unless I was a talented entertainer and made a spectacle of it, there's no way I could ever have the number of people tracking me racing the way she had.

That's just the way it is in the male-dominated internets.

learn anything new. I think I peaked in there at the time. It certainly didn't show anyone in a positive light.

@rpen, can't use roundup within 50' of water without committing a federal crime. Also, said water was one of the main drinking water supplies to the city of Dallas. So... not happening. The only thing you can do about ivy on a creek is to manually rip it out in basically a biohazard suit (which worked pretty well).

No creek now, so it's not my problem anymore.

Rats! But I'm sure the president will take care of that regulation next week.

No, we get all that. I'm just saying that there wasn't such a thing as enough attention - more was always better.

Yeah, I know. I'm not saying to keep goats - I'm saying to rent them. My understanding is that they like and will go for the leafy stuff first - I'm sure that the goat rental places recommend cordoning off areas and manage the number of goats, and duration/frequency of the visit so as to primarily target the invasives/undesirables.
