Glad I was at the Breast Center Wednesday instead of today.

Yes, yes you will.

The nice thing is that we can order frame only, and the shop knows I'm not a walking Amex black card, so they're cool with me ordering my own parts online (probably would include a 5800 group) and then building it up for me.

That thing is sexy enough that I'd gladly pay the many hundred percent premium over a generic BD carbon bike. Plus it's made in 'Murica and buying anything through the shop supports a good charity.

I got another cool gift yesterday from a patient. She was in India and brought me a small statue of a Hindu god with an elephant face.

I smiled and said "Oh, I believe that is Ganesh!"

She was very pleased I know my Hindu gods.

I know red is faster, but I'd go for the blue one.

Agree. And that SRAM eTap looks sweet too.

"Plus it is made in the US, and charity! Also, the people from Addiction told me it would be ok."

jtaylor996 05-12-17 02:16 PM

Addiction is my side piece, she can't know about it.

If you got this thing you'd probably drill holes in the DT to install friction shifters. I won't screw it up that badly.

Wow, $2700 frameset, and then another $300 for the good fork, and $600 for the paintjob. Just how deep is that discount?

Dan333SP 05-12-17 02:25 PM

Ew it has internal cables. DEAL BREAKER.

Kidding, but that would be a pain.

It's a good percent, but it would still be a very, very expensive purchase. Hence the need to have a real conversation about it. Realistically I probably can't justify it for at least a year. But I want one.

Will post pics when I get a chance to test ride their demo frame, apparently coming in soon.

Tell me about the S&S case. I had a custom-made, heavy-duty, two-piece telescoping sleeve-style cardboard box made for mine. It cost about $25 and lasted for a few round trips.

I made mine out of eighth inch plywood, reinforced at all the corners. It's been in process forva few years. I finally used a piece of leather for the hinge. My plan is to completely redo it after my two summer trips. I'll send photos from my destination. There I will have lots of time on my hands.

Get the eTap, then there's only the rear brake cable that's internal. Also it builds up to #14.35 on their site like that with the carbon wheels. All for the low low price of $9600.

No way I'm paying that for something without disc brakes.

I'm playin' on their bike builder now. Great way to spend my last half hour here.

Interesting, the weight estimate accounts for the paint. That cool chrome paint adds more than half a pound.

Still, with mechanical Ultegra and basic Aksium wheels it's just over 16 lbs in my size (61, or maybe a 58+). That's pretty light.

Seriously, I looked it up too. The online info is mostly about their bikes. I'm interested in what the company is about. But a simple explanation would be appreciated. Basically, who are these people? What do they have to do with Guru?

I don't understand the difference between 54 and 54+ sizes. Like is one wider? That's all I know about plus sizes...

Not as light as it could be with a better parts choice.

The head tube is apparently 2cm higher. It's the equivalent of H1/H2 geometries for Trek frames.
