We're taking it pretty well but it's always in the back of your mind.

If I had any sense, I'd be out shopping now, stocking up for the next three weeks, so I don't have to do it all tomorrow. Too damn tired though. The bike is all packed, and that's the important thing.

I rode my 39 year old bike 41 miles today. I can't believe how quiet those old drivetrains are. Smooth as silk. Unlike the C&V guys, I'm not saying the old bikes are better, just different.

I won't be giving up my carbon frame, lightweight wheels, and indexed shifting any time soon but I did enjoy the ride.

Girls do rule.

I even cleaned the crust off for the occasion. Still a couple of minor things to do. Might as well get new brake pads to match the new rotors, and then I need to stop at bikes plus in the morning for the new solid bar caps and a bar trim.

I literally only got to look around for like 5 minutes while walking between one meeting location and the other. Seemed like an awesome place to take a vacation, though. I haven't been to many cool high deserts like that.

In some ways, that tandem crash with the dog might have been a god-send... some of these things could have remained undiscovered but for the scans and other stuff that happened afterwards.

(I use the term god-send advisedly, as it has become a colloquial term rather than identifying anyone as religious).
