"Nope," he says, "I'm making myself a mega" Haha the Mega is his dessert creation: Toasted chocolate chip brioche bread, spread with peanut butter, topped with French vanilla ice cream, sliced bananas, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. No cherry on the top because he doesn't like cherries! |

You trying to give me a reason to finally get one of those choc chip brioche loafs at Aldi?
Did I tell you about the French toast? Split a piece of Aldi choc chip brioche bread on three sides. Spread peanut butter inside and add some sliced banana. Dip into a batter made of milk, egg, salt, pepper, vanilla extract and a little flour. Dip the bread into the batter and fry in butter until browned on both sides and the peanut butter is all melty. Serve with maple syrup and blackberries. You could add a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar if you want some crunch. |

"Trsnrtr- how's your wife doing, if you don't mind sharing?" The poor woman is doing fine after her breast surgery but right before her surgery, she had a CT scan and it showed an incidental finding of lesions on her liver so she had two more tests done and the doctors are worried enough that she is going to have a liver biopsy in a couple weeks. Because of that, they've postponed her radiation and hormone treatments that were supposed to start a week ago. On the good side, she rode 60 miles yesterday. :thumb: Our house is sort of in turmoil because after our horrendous tandem accident last August, I had numerous testing in intensive care which has resulted in what seems like an interminable bunch of follow-up CTs, ultrasounds and MRIs. My wife is in the same way. I think we are single-handedly keeping the medical profession afloat. Anyway, I had a suspicious CT scan result of the brain last Fall and finally had a follow-up MRI last week. It appears that I have some bad things going on inside my head and now have to see a neurologist. Growing old is not for sissies. We've cancelled five bike tours this spring and early summer all due to testing and results thereof. |

Wow we are all a mess these days... Which makes me uneasy that we haven't heard from LAJ in a few days... But it's supposed to rain on Sunday. :( |

Ha. I just picked up a plain brioche loaf at Aldi for the first time last weekend and made French toast with it - it was good. I'm tempted to try the production of yours, but the kid's tastebuds are all over the map right now, so I'm wary of doing work/experimenting when I don't have a clue as to how it might be received. Maybe I'll make it for myself on a Tues when no one else is around, and go from there. :D
Here's what you do now: Cook up some bacon. Slice some rotisserie chicken or, alternatively, an heirloom tomato. Whip up some mayo in the food processor: an egg, a bit of Dijon, small clove of garlic, tarragon if you've got it, juice of half a lemon, salt & pepper. Whirl in the food processor, then drip in 1 cup of toasted walnut oil. You will have to use pasteurized eggs on account of the kids. Toast the bread. Build yourself some sandwiches. Then tomorrow for breakfast, make some scrambled eggs with cheddar and make breakfast sandwiches. Be sure to add the leftover bacon. This bread is way better than sourdough for egg sandwiches, soft enough to not squish your eggs outta your sandwich. Also good: grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Orange marmalade or apricot jam are the best. |
Once I figure out how to make French toast from salad, I'll be happy.
At least it's back into watermelon season. |
So, today we had a lot of thunderstorms and a few tornados. At 10:00 this morning, the view from my windows looked more like 8:00 at night. It made completing a lot of goals, that were certainly pretty important, impossible, and caused some mayhem along with a dash of general disorder. But eventually the storm passed (and my Labrador felt brave enough to venture out of doors again).
I know it's a crappy cell phone pic (again), but hopefully the intent (actual and implied) is evident. Rowan was correct in an earlier post. It was a day that brought a little of this and a little of that. Hope y'all have a good weekend! Safe rides everyone. Goodnight. |

Big rain today. All club rides are canceled. I have to work so I could not ride anyway, but it's still a bummer when a spring Saturday is a rain-out.

I can't remember whether I already mentioned this, but here goes. I know a retired dermatologist who is making good money doing practicing medicine on Face Time or some or some video conferencing app. Folks who can't get to a dermatologist in person for whatever reason. He prescribes directly to their pharmacies. It is a real thing. Organized through a central service that manages referrals and the payments, etc. Go figure.

Well, can this balance out the mood in here?
NEW CRABON ASSPLODER WHEEL DAY!! http://i.imgur.com/s6KIEpw.jpg I even cleaned the crust off for the occasion. Still a couple of minor things to do. Might as well get new brake pads to match the new rotors, and then I need to stop at bikes plus in the morning for the new solid bar caps and a bar trim. Also, only pic I got of ALBBQ: http://i.imgur.com/vrIWL9d.jpg I literally only got to look around for like 5 minutes while walking between one meeting location and the other. Seemed like an awesome place to take a vacation, though. I haven't been to many cool high deserts like that. I was in Albg once. It looked just like this. On further inspection, I have to say full suspension bikes have come a long way since the days when men were men. |
I was just about to post in the "Balance" thread, but it got locked!

Sadly, I have seen patients who have used this service for other problems where you really need a physical exam, and although this is the new reality I think it's a bad idea. |
