This year I missed the break by not much and found riding in the main group easy after that other than the downwind bit where I was close to spinning out 53x11... so progress I suppose. Team mates got 1st, 3rd and 4th from the break of 4.

Nice.

So are you actually back at it? Or just the rare race every now and then?

Yes, some of my uncle's humor is dark and someone flagged his work as inappropriate.

I think it was the work toilet from the railroad that pushed his rating over the edge.

The porta porty from yesterday would have pushed Mr Rodger's photo stream rating over the edge.

Sorta back at it. Not as kooky about training as I once was and trying to just enjoy racing with a good team with as little effort as possible. :)

Yeah, the amount of pre-ride unloading was substantial for one port-a-potty. Nearly filled it.

Sweet that's the way to do it.

However somehow I always seem to make things as hard as possible...

Ordered one earlier today. Now to find the funds. The scooter will have to go, as will the Lancemobile. Will need to sell most/all of the RC stuff too.

You keep saying marathon, but others' comments about a bike phase suggest it might have been a triathlon. Is that right? 1/2 Ironman?

Trsnrtr 05-01-17 05:44 PM

After a couple days of rain and high winds, I saw the sun for a little while and thought, "Cool! I'm riding, 30 mph winds be damned!"

I got soaked. :(

:D

Similar here. 0% chance of rain they said. We got rained on our way to the supermarket. Pretty light rain luckily.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for electronic shifting.

How do you figure. Seems like the rider who doesn't get the endorsement. It is dead easy to avoid that problem. How could you go out for 110 miles, an organized event, and not check your battery charge indicator?

PepeM 05-01-17 05:54 PM

Or just bring an extra battery or two.

I think some people's memory is starting to go. :innocent:

You should always have a spare coin battery for the levers. With metering on the derailleur batteries it wouldn't exactly be wrong to invest in a spare rechargeable, but it isn't quite necessary either.

The recounting of this and other tales.

He seems to think somehow the battery discharged during the ride or a rest stop. I dunno.

Another friend had his di2 die on him, the alleged cause was water got into battery case and caused battery to discharge.

Maybe his dog ate it.

Yeah I don't remember that detail, but I know it wasn't a normal bicycle race.
