I bought some ant killer that is attracting them by the score. It's supposed to kill the entire colony, but after 2 days they just keep coming for more. Does anyone know how long this is supposed to take before they all go away?? |

Dunno. Didn't work quickly enough for me; I got impatient and was able to track them to a small hole in the basement floor. A funnel and a stockpot of nearly-boiling water took care of it.

The wildlife in the back yard is almost as happy and lazy as all my pets ever were.

What does any of this have to do with tact or even presumption? My statement involved no criticism or judgement. It wasn't even related to Dan's post or anyone else for that matter except as a segue on the notion of not taking something you value for granted. Seeing that in print clicked the button on the file where my feelings about successful marriage are stored, and I shared an idea. What exactly is the problem?

Save your face palm. Did you miss where I specifically said my reply was not to be construed as relating to Dan's issue? And for good reason. That is because I can't remember what his issue is. I was simply prompted by his conclusion to give some marginally related advice. Why do you (plural) have to make this such a drama?

Oh, it's still very much facepalm-worthy. Best-case scenario is that you were tactlessly using another person's misfortune as an excuse to proselytize - if you weren't tone deaf, you'd understand this is poor form.

Good lord can everyone please ****ing cool it?

Like I said before, drama. In this thread human tragedy alternates for our attention with red Corvettes and confetti-decorated bicycle frames. That seems to be the accepted standard. Don't talk to me about proselytizing and tone deafness.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Cheese did the trick.
Not really, but going faster seems to have done it, no more noise. :thumb: |

Did Tuesday Night Worlds for the first time this year tonight. Bridged to the winning break of four with six to go. With two to go, they decided to attack while I was pulling, just as we were cresting the small hill and going into the nasty crosswind. I was not attentive enough and took too long to react. Got droped. Then the field caught me and droped me on the last lap. Takeaways:
- I'm glad I went. I ate way too much wind during the first few laps, so the practice was welcome so that I don't do the same this weekend. - People on the break will pretend they are your friends, but they aren't. Do not trust them. - For all the BF talk, those crabon wheels do make a difference, especially when launching yourself into the wind at 30mph. - Doing an hour of sweetspot in the morning and then a crit in the afternoon is not the nicest of things that you can do to your legs. - I'm out of stuff to say here. Wish I had ice cream. |

And eat your hearts out, WhyFi and BillyD: I just ponied up a few grand for the 24-70/2.8ii and 70-200/2.8ISii. Stupid Canon with their stupid combo deal rebate literally twisting my arm and forcing me to splurge. Ah well, at least now I'm about done.
Ha ha ha ha ha. |

Every one of those lessons is both hilarious and true. GO eat some ice cream. Splurge and get some Ben & Jerry's.

New bike day. Steel is real, of course. I'm not exactly convinced it's a Colin Laing, and Trainsnorter said to check with the tandem forum but I was afraid one of them would snag it if I asked about it, so I just went and got it.
https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4190/3...368a6a7b_k.jpg The little lady and I rode it down to the park and it rides pretty smooth. Unfortunately the bike has the wrong shifters. Luckily I have the right shifters in the garage. |
