Talking to coach about ideas for aero testing, he mentions he's testing shoes.
"Oh really? Some shoes are faster than others even when covered by shoe covers?" inquires I. "Yes," he says, "sometimes." Hmmm I have over 20,000 miles on my current shoes, will need new ones at some point anyway. I suppose I could just get some fast ones now. What's faster? Laces are generally faster. Goggle goggle google and voila! http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...F420935681.jpg Lime green and black. Just like the TT bike. Of course they're covered anyway when I'm in full race regalia, so does it really matter? No. It does however appeal to my sense of aesthetics. :) |

Makes sense... buckles are bulky enough to create bumps even under the shoe covers; laces are flat and successfully smoothed over. As long, I assume, as you adequately tuck and flatten the tails after tying.
What sort of time gain are we talking? I assume it can't be enough for tri geeks to consider tying and then putting on shoe covers, even for an Ironman, considering they then have to come off at the other end. No idea what the time difference is. I didn't ask. Its a cumulative thing of course, so even tiny savings can be worth it. If I don't test laces vs buckles, coach for sure will. So we'll have a time savings for him at his speeds after we do the testing in June. I've gotten really good at putting my shoe covers on but it still takes me several minutes. No way would they make sense for a triathlon though, way too time-consuming. |

You should also check the Specialized ones. They come with a small sleeve to cover the laces and everything. They claim they are the fastest shoes, but then of course they do.
My current shoes are men's Specialized Expert somethings. I love them, they fit really well and I've never had foot issues despite riding some very long days. So sounds good to me, checking out Specilaized shoes with laces. |

Here is my jersey; I wear it as a kind of memento mori, so that I do not neglect to meditate on my wicked choices in both handlebar type and cycling shoes. The tragedy of my condition, of course, is that I cannot hide these outward and visible signs of inner iniquity. |

Envious. I need one in the woodshop.
I plan on using both, the schwalbes to set depth on a few knobs, and then the belt to finish the job very quickly. |

So where should I start looking for a goat to rent? My new front axle I ordered from ScamBay is in Wilmington, De. I am hoping to be back mowing this weekend. |
Sold my Colnago CX this week. My current stable is my lowest count of bikes in 35 years. :twitchy:

I'd rather a movie suck if it were an occasion for a date. I guess that means I'm not a fan of movie dates (I mean, you can't talk...).

Correct, they're not really the smartest move in terms of a date, but a few other ideas were shot down.
