Yeah, I know. You didn't change planes in Houston, did you? We might have passed in the terminal.

Almost certainly your accent.

I have had very good results with Imgur. Easy to upload photos and then to copy them into BF.

I just did a test for my self and Imgur was easy on an idevice.

It is hard to use from an idevice but works fine with a desktop or laptop.

Yeah. I hardly use a computer anymore. But there are some things you just can't do on a phone.

That's what I'd heard about Flikr.

No riding anywhere near cow town today. We've got almost 3" in the last 24 hours so far. And days more to come :( Everything's been cancelled, everywhere.

Literally the closest rides going on now are the dirty kanza and palo duro canyon.

Jadesfire 06-03-17 01:20 PM

I got up at 4:30 this morning to go for a ride (without an alarm clock, which is evidence enough for me that I really wanted to go out at that god-forsaken hour). Problem #1 realized when I was outside in the driveway: forgot to check the batteries on my headlamp, so one light down. Might be OK, I have another light on the handlebars. Got out on the road, not even out of my neighborhood- lightning (did I spell that correctly? :)) to the south, my planned direction. Crap, the radar didn't show that. Ride cancelled, but a trip to the LBS just now resulted in a new set of tires, so I'll try again tomorrow. I'm really over this rain every damn day.

I highly recommend a hub dynamo if you do much riding in the dark or low light conditions. Never again will batteries be an issue. It would be a good opportunity to learn to build a wheel too. Win win.

Jadesfire 06-03-17 02:29 PM

^ I like that idea, and I'd also like to learn to build wheels someday. Perhaps one day with a dedicated touring bike.

Did you wave at anyone? If so, then no.:)

I would love to do some sailing or even motorboating on Lake Champlain. That is a beautiful area.

We have a couple of timeshares and you can trade them for other timeshares. In England, there are some canal boats that you can trade for. So I have this vision: trade into a canal boat and rent a mountain bike. Then I can ride along the canal boat and into town and maybe into some hills or forests and then still meet Mr H at the next lock to help him get through. And pub lunches every day. :)

A friend of mine has done the canal boats rental thing in France. He loved it. Bicycles were not a part of it, though, but he did note a lot of cyclists using the tow paths and camping wherever was convenient. Seemed like a leisurely and very civilised method to tour, either way.

I'd be glad to teach you, but am not in the NOLA area for very long when we visit. Would be tough to arrange.

Thanks! Bookmarked for future reference. I bought and read the majority of Jobst Brandt's The Bicycle Wheel last fall, but have not taken the opportunity to put theory into practice.

Understood, but thanks for the offer! Maybe someday :).

Great epic MTB ride today in excellent company. 46 miles/6200 ft climbing.

We saw the entire Buffalo herd it seems, 20+ individuals.

I had this mental image of Catalina island being very small (never been there). Too small for so much riding elevation.

Obviously incorrect.

Kudos

I can't imagine 46 miles on a mountain bike.
