Oh, HEDONISM. I thought we were talking about heathenism. My mistake.

For the record, if it's longer than the back of a cereal box and has less pictures...

As with donuts, I can't recall the last time I had a cereal box in my hand. I was recently in a hotel with a continental breakfast. Most of the offerings were things I hadn't experienced in many years. I had oatmeal and english muffins.

I wouldn't know. Guatemalans have a different way too, but I can't remember it at the moment. That place was my second home, through the 80s, and I haven't been back since '95. It's time.

My breakfast today was yogurt and pecans. Of course, I'm heading out with my Saturday touristy group and we may stop at a restaurant at some point. :innocent:

I've had a protein bar, so far. And coffee, of course. We're rich in bananas for the next couple weeks, so they will certainly play a role. Homegrown bananas and a sharp chainsaw. What else is there, really?

Trust me, you don't want to know. When a guy starts quoting 11th century Spanish rabbis, as is so often the case, my eyes roll back in my head, and it is all over.

That, and eat.

Was going to get out on the bike for a couple few hours this morning, but the kids were both sleeping in and it was too rare/special of an occasion to not take advantage and have a quiet, relaxing morning. Extended family gathering today (which I couldn't convince my wife to let me ride to :( - would have been a nice 35-40 mile ride), but no real plans after that, so maybe I'll get my couple few hours in afterwards.
Oh, and I had a blueberry cake donut this morning. :D |
I've since had a bowl of potato chips and a piece of nut bread. The rice and broccoli are cooking. Sometimes a guy just wakes up hungry.

And that whole cheesecake has less calories than a slice of bread! At least, that was my take.
2 slices of buttered whole wheat bread hold more calories than a standard-sized slice of plain cheesecake. White bread is of course worse. :) |
Mrs BD is threatening to join up and crack the whip around here regarding food.

The family reunion today is on my dad's side. If I can bank on one thing, it's that there will be too much food, half of it sweet.

I had some TT intervals earlier this week and I missed two of them, I hate misses. They were kind of hard but I was also distracted, riding with friends rather than focusing on getting it done.
So today, I just was riding around on the TT bike, getting more time in the new position and I figured I might as well avail myself of the opportunity to get those intervals done. The task was three 5 min intervals at 114% with 5 min rest in between. Those were hard-ish but totally doable in the old position, in the new position they are really hard- gasping-for-breath-by-the-end hard more than shut-up-legs hard. Anyway, I headed out to this canyon that is a gradual 3% uphill heading out and I popped off the first two intervals at 116% then 114%. Turned around and did the third one heading out of the canyon, now a 3% downhill grade. Actually scared myself a little because I got going too fast- 31 mph for 5 min. Missed by a few watts, wound up at 112%. But 31 mph is fast for me, no draft (not that I'd like be able to hang in any group that was going 31 mph by virtue of the benefit of the draft) and no coasting (as in down a steep descent). That was fun. :) A few days ago one of those FB Memories came up in my feed. Four years ago I posted about my longest ever ride- 31 miles. The next goal was 36 miles. That seems way way longer ago than 4 years ago. |
Good that you got it done.
I woke up too tired. Bummer too, since it's so nice out. |
