Velo Vol Are you going to see the races? Women's starts soon.

So either GPS bike computers designed to direct you on a route are generally crap, or I have a bigger lack of technology ability than I thought.

Possibly both.

Details to follow, but I am too bushed from my ride right now.

seedsbelize 06-25-17 07:15 AM

Certainly the former. Possibly both.

seedsbelize 06-25-17 07:17 AM

And now I need to get moving. I can't count on today being as nice a day as last Sunday was. I still consmed 4 liters in 35 miles.

When my wife and I were tandem touring in Spain, we had several GPS and road sign failures. It may not be you.

Oddly enough, when we were in Mallorca, roads were marked impeccably and a simple paper map was great for 60 mile rides.

I never take turn-by-turn from a computer.

Before Long rides/tours I spend hours zooming in to satellite views to double check computer generated cue sheets, then add to/modify them and print them out.

LiveStream

I've got a band concert (downtown) during the men's race.

Interestingly, I've never climbed the featured hill. I'll have to check it out.

Chilly and gray morning ride. Averaged 20mph for my first 24 miles... and then I turned around an my tailwind became a headwind. :o

Ha - nah, the wind and favorable traffic lights didn't make me lose sight of my Husky Cyclist™ status. :p

I'm sure the racers will find the band music inspirational.

Many years ago when I was first cycling, I made the mistake of going out super fast pretty far thinking I was the bomb. Then I turned around and limped home into a ferocious headwind. It has happened to us all.

Me too. Especially the neighborhood coffee shop ride.

Ok, the weather is beautiful, no wind, and I took yesterday off.

Still need to find the motivation to finish the Keurig and get going in 15 min to catch the Sunday ride....

Oh, I didn't misjudge or anything - it's not like I burned all my matches on the way out and had nothing on the way back - just taking what the conditions gave me. And, it's funny, but I've been finding that headwinds don't bother me nearly as much as they used to. I mean, they obviously affect me, but I remember swearing in frustration at times when headwinds felt like hitting a brick wall. Some improvements in fitness and position go a long way, I guess.

VV, I'm live streaming it to my tv from my iPad. :thumb:
