Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And don't forget the hoagie, which heathens call "subs" and/or "hero sandwiches."

The other day I thought about stopping to take a picture of a train since @LesterOfPuppets doesn't post them anymore.

Thus the beauty of the pocketed shorts. And we've come full circle.

I almost stopped to take a pic of the widest bike lane evar.

Maybe on the way home today, if I survive the treacherous Pacific Coast highway.

If it weren't for the camera/phone combo, I would never carry a camera. I swore off them 25 years ago during my traveling years. Just one more unnecessary thing to keep track of. That's what postcards are for. And memories.

Same, although it would be nice to have a zoom sometimes. The new Note 8 is supposed to have an optical zoom. It has dual lenses on the back... Should be interesting.

The ultralight packable whatever I can't remember the name is awesome for the blustery Socal winters.

Thanks for the input - lemme ponder.

This is the thing that I'm wondering about - as a hardy Minnesotan, what's the likely temp range that I'd want to have a vest along for the ride and how much of the year will we see those variations in-ride?

I usually don't bother with arm warmers until we see temps under the mid-50s or so. Jacket usually goes on in the 30s.

Complaining about State Fair cheese curds, wearing a jacket at 61°... I'm sure that someone will be by shortly to discuss your ongoing status as a MN resident.

That's why I threw half of them away. It was a decent sized package and after eating some Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night, I couldn't eat anymore.

Fairs are dangerous.

If the rides don't kill you, the food will.

I like totally forgot to take pictures of the two phone booths I saw at campgrounds during my Montana tour. They both had functioning phones in them. The first campground had a note on the office door instructing new arrival to use the pay phone to call a toll free number if no one was in the office. I almost did, but I decided to use my iPhone instead. I regret that decision.
